An update on the Under age tables.

This is the first time this has been attempted. Many have mused over the idea but never been brave enough to try. I am proud to say a couple of Joeys Old Boys are behind this and one very talented statistician.

This weekend we have started to collate scores and create tables for the younger A and B teams.
This is a big undertaking and so far we have been well supported.
As many would understand this only works when people help us out with scores.

Results outstanding

  • 13B - Kings v View
  • 14B - Kings v View
  • 15A - Kings v View
  • 15B - Kings v View and Scots v Newington
  • 16B - Kings v View and Scots v Newington
In the 14Bs, we have shown Scots having a bye (with no points) since apparently Newington is not fielding a 14Bs!?

A REMINDER- These results are limited to the 6 official GPS schools in the top comp only, so results v Grammar, Pius etc don't count and are not shown. Trying to include Grammar and High makes it messy.

Can we expect to hear from someone at Riverview?? Kings?? Newington??
If you know a result and score, let me know.

Such a shame this happens. From my experience with Scots this is a recent trend with parents and old boys in the past normally well behaved and gracious. Always good to beat Scots at the death. Joeys have made this a specialty since 1981 when a field goal on the bell decided the premiership. We walked back to the College that night and had ice-cream for dessert (rare treat)
Last year when the shore-men travelled to Scot’s, shores hooker was knocked out cold. Boo’s and ‘get up’ cries from the Scot’s old boys and parents were all you could hear, disappointing, those kind of people are just like that I guess.

Hi TheMedow

Stuff like this MAY happen from time to time at ALL SCHOOLS. Just happens more often at certain schools. Can't understand that you've left school, not that you can't support your alma mater but leave it up to the boys on the field and the boys in the stands ( at New we don't have a stand, we sit on the grass ) to sort out. Not some 19yr old or 46 yr old has been.
Anyway, what goes around comes around as they say. Long way back for the Scots boys now.

Here is a list of the boys who made the GPS u16 squad. Not sure about other schools but I believe Harry Gianoutsos and Max Soepono from Scots are also a part of the squad.
My son played at the U16 state champs last week and it’s interesting looking at this list. In no way am I suggesting that the players selected don’t deserve to be there but it seems apparent that the Sydney selectors are looking for different things than the GPS ones! I think Riverview in particular should feel pretty hard done by, they have some fantastic players in the U16s, none of which are on this list.

News just in from the Riverview camp

the Riverview joeys game has been moved to Leichhardt oval.

As an old boy I was mortified hearing this as I believe this ruining schoolboy rugby culture and ultimately Riverview’s home ground advantage.

this is all the result of apparently “to many” people attending the Riverview home game, honestly a poor call from the school

Anyway we can confirm this? Is there an official announcement?
At Joeys we have heard nothing as yet.

While Riverview does have challenges with crowd control and ground security, it would be a shame to move it.
There are three Joeys Old Boy reunions that game and I am sure similar number being from Riverview.
The big issue is always perimeter security and I have heard a rumour of drunken Old Boys being dropped off at the boat shed and walking up from there! Unsure if that actually happened.

Having the game at Leichardt is a nightmare for traffic as well. Logistics would be enormous.

I think it’s official, the school has gone soft.
