Wallabies 2023

I hope ARU are smart enough to recognize the benefits of making a Wallabies coaching role for Quade next year.

When used effectively (i.e McKenzie 2010-2013, and Rennie 2021) Quade is one of the best player-coaches the game has seen, his astute leadership guided the Reds to their only Championship and 2013 Wallabies to millimeters of their 2nd Grand Slam ever (1984), his 2021 Wallabies to 3rd in the world, with back-to-back wins over South Africa, followed by 3 more comprehensive victories against Argentina, then Japan. His track record is peerless when given the license to run the shop. Eddie like Robbie wants to undermine this Tokoroa genius and like Robbie he'll administer his 'youth policy' as a means to ultimately shut-out & suppress Quade's influence over this once great team.

In principle I agree with you, but it’s going to take more than someone just saying it. There are a lot of things that need to be actioned and they all involve money, lots of it.
Doesn't cost much to get them running up sand dunes. The players don't have enough in their legs, sand dunes would help a lot.

Conditioning programs need to come from researched and proven methods, not random ideas from coaches like running sand dunes.
Listening to the Michael Cheika interview on the GBRA podcast, i was surprised about his S&C methods. He mentioned how he would take the boys for a run and kind of decided on the day what they would do. This goes completely against the basic S&C principles of progressive overload and measuring intensity and volume of training.
I think this is an area where Australian Rugby is well behind its competitors, particularly the AFL and NZRU in terms of professionalism in training and building athletes.
I have said it before on this thread, but 4 achilleas injuries in 12 months screams of "righto lets go run some hills today lads" rather than a measured and professional approach to S&C.

How long does a broken rib keep you out for?
4-6 probably hoping for the 4 week mark to be able to tolerate it being sore.

The rib cartilage injuries linger around for months from experience but these guys are going to push through a lot more than I'd even contemplate. Don't know if it would be slower being a Front Rower and the extra pressure he has to have go through his torso at scrum time, mauls etc...

Ribs can get needled.

maybe we should just let them rest more?
Now, maybe yes. I think the S&C failings at Super level are too far down the track to be reversed / overcome pre-RWC.
In 2024 onwards they really need to look at the IP of the Kiwis as to how they do S&C more, because we really don't seem to be advancing in that area at all over the past 5 years, let alone 20. So far behind the top 4-6 teams in world rugby at the moment. It's a glaring failure.

I’ve been on this forum for about 10yrs now I reckon and it seems to me, the Wallabies are almost always waiting for at least 1 guy to come back from injury.
There is something very wrong with our training and conditioning that is causing these raft of injuries. Achilles injuries, generally are caused by not stretching the top and bottom of it.

I think you are right but if that is true our chances of getting out of our pool are under serious threat. We have to get the squad to a state where they can compete effectively. That's not going to be helped if they cannot train at a level that keeps them competitive. I thought this was going to be fixed during Rennie's time?
