This is correct. But in the 15s age group, Grammar have been petitioning other schools to allow them to play B teams. But so far opposing schools not amenable. As an example, Riverview presenting their 15D team this weekend. Last year they defeated the Kings 14B team comfortably. Admittedly a weak team.Maybe if the boys from Grammar were not playing in the C comp, this would actually be impressive. The Grammar 2nd XV is also playing against the 5ths and 6ths against any other school, so it would not be that hard to defeat them in the 16a's. The only comp that would have to watch out for the 2027 prem is the 3rd XV comp. In no time do I see them advancing and actually being good enough to compete in the 1s and 2s.
This is correct. It’s the 15s age group who have a winning record and even they have lost matches. 16s are definitely not undefeated. 2 years ago, they beat most C teams. Last year, they generally lost to B teams.
Agree with views here.Very selective bias in the reporting but could show they will be competitive in a 3rd XV comp since they can match with others Cs. They have 2-3 players that could make other Schools As another 5-6 at B standard but then 5-6 that are D standard. This is the issue with anyone playing the what-if game about going higher. To be a good 2nd XV your need 4-5 guys in that side that are 1st XV standard and just
Joker, 1989. Last Game in 1988 was against high. Joeys were well beaten at Joeys. High were terrific that dayBetween 1988-1992 the Joeys 1st XV did not lose a game.
I personally have seen a lot of depth in the Scots teams in the past few years. I saw this again in the battle of the east as I was spectating. Although I have Kings 1xv by +12, I have both the Scots 2nd's and 3rd's getting up this weekend. I saw quite a dangerous backline in the 3rds (A lot of speed mixed with size) and also saw quite a bit of size in the forwards for the Scots 3rds (Which we haven't seen traditionally in Scots in recent years). Should be a great match, no matter the result. Didn't watch the Scots 2nds vs Waverly as I was too busy initiating some cheeky sideline rizz. Although I did hear they played well I'm pretty sure they won by 3 tries, but I may be wrong.Sadly, I didn't see the King's game against Trinity, but I will take your word. However, I got to see the Scots teams play, and based on last weekend's results, I believe that the 3rd's and 2nd's are going to be good games to watch. With two very dominant teams, it will be interesting to see if Scots make any changes to the 3's and 2's. I believe that 3rd's will take the win against King's, and the 2nd's will be a challenging physical game, so it's too early to call about who will go home with the round 1 win. For 3:15, I think that King's are going to take the win as Scots didn't look very connected in the 1's, could be interesting to see if they come through for round 1. I believe Scots have much to offer in the 1st XV, so that it could be a good match-up, but King's might take the win.
@electrobro, do you have any thoughts on Scot's seconds and third's and King's, as you have insight on both?
Correct. It was my year at Joeys and they were well beaten by High that day on No 1. High had a good pack and a great centre pairing of Adam Magro and twimble. Hogo was fullback. Not
Not quite correct.....they lost their final game of the 1988 season to Sydney High
Hockey (E) finds himself playing 1XV games these days, however he had not played rugby before year 7… Played Ds for many years and spent a season starting for 16Bs.Crazy fact. Any other cases like this?
I know plenty of boys play Bs-Cs year 7- 10 and then find themselves in the 1s in year 12, whether that's due to them being unrecognised young or a vast improvement.
Declan Curran 3rd XV JoeysSome other fun ones - Brett Whiteley 2nd XV (Apparently some bloke called Kenny Catchpole was a smidge better)
Luke Milton Aus 7s Captain & 2002 Easts League Premiership winner - 2000 3rd XV

I remember Digby playing in the 13Cs. He was coached by former Headmaster Tim Petterson. Can't say i'd point at him then and say he is the next Shore 1sts winger, but being from the country, being able to play on school oval every afternoon helps! He is a great young kid and a great player. He has worked hard, so credit to him.Hockey (E) finds himself playing 1XV games these days, however he had not played rugby before year 7… Played Ds for many years and spent a season starting for 16Bs.
H is very quick on the wing.

I have to agree with you there, @electrobro. It should be a great day out at Parramatta. Because of their physicality, I reckon the 3rds are going to be the game to watch this weekend. With both teams having great depth through their backlines and strong forward packs.I personally have seen a lot of depth in the Scots teams in the past few years. Declan Curran left Joeys after the 1968 season when he was in Year 11 and did his HSC in 1969 at Ballina High, his hometown. He returned to Joeys in 1970 to repeat Year 12 but did not play rugby at all, choosing to help coach various teams. Not sure if he played in the 3rd XV in Year 11 in 1968, but if he did that was the highest he got at Joeys - he never played 1sts or 2nds. His Wallaby debut was 1980.Declan Curran 3rd XV Joeys
