Rugby Championship 2025: South Africa v Australia

Rugby Head

Charlie Fox (21)
Apparently it's not a serious injury and he's aiming for the 2nd test in Cape Town.
Now the Giteau law is redundant, is there any other THP props floating internationally that might be worth a call up? Robertson and Nongorr fill me with very little confidence, especially against the Saffas.

Tane Edmed is poised for a return to Test rugby, with the former Waratahs playmaker set to be picked in the Wallabies squad for the Rugby Championship opener against South Africa, due to be named on Thursday.

Edmed made his debut for the Wallabies last November against Ireland, lasting just three minutes in Dublin after coming on as a 74th-minute substitute before being knocked out while making a tackle.

Schmidt should start Edmed next week just to add twenty pages to the thread...

Anyone here remember that Edmed was essentially rated third No 10 at the Tahs this past Super Rugby season?

Creighton started 8 games at 10 and 2 games at fullback (was never on the bench).
Edmed started 5 games at 10 and 7 games off the bench.
Bowen started 1 game at 10 and 7 games off the bench.

Seems pretty clear he was the second option at 10 (and I wouldn't have picked Creighton ahead of him).

As BH says, plus from memory Edmed was injured v the Chiefs and that victory gave Creighton (rightly or wrongly) a bit of a leg up into the 10 jersey for a few rounds. No one is sure why Bowen started v the Lions.

Aside from all that, even if he was #3 at the Tahs, that's pretty much #1 at all the other franchises.

In all seriousness it was all a bit weird how he was thrown into the outer for a while. He does like to party a bit so I wonder if they were dealing with some issues behind the scenes they didn't want to make public, but that's just me hypothesising. It could also be part of the reason for the move to Canberra. He's always been clearly next in Schmidt's pecking order though. Anyway, he's yours now so it will be interesting to see which of he and Meredith Bernie has on top. In the meantime, I hope he tears it up when given the opportunity.

I wish someone would try Debrezceni.

At least he has a point of difference. At the moment if it isn’t Noah our game plan appears to be to hide our 10’s and hope they don’t stuff up. (That’s a slight on all the 10’s we have).
