I'm fairly sceptical of Lucas as well.

He's been playing well by reports, but it's for a poor team in a comp that is somewhere below Super Rugby. Only hint of finals was the access games last season when they had to play promotion/relegation matches after winning 3 games all year

Can't blame one player for a team performance, but his record in Japan is 16 from 51 games. He's not ever been part of a high performing pro team since U20s (the Reds were pretty rubbish when he was there too).

I don't know how you can judge his readiness for Wallaby under that sample, and if it would even be worth to try
Watched them play earlier in the year, standard is close to Shute Shield. Super standard players look good for a reason.

Michael Cheikas name thrown up as a potential coach for the Newcastle Knights NRL team next year given they've sacked their current coach

What a crying shame it would be to lose someone with the rugby IQ of Michael Cheika. I know some don't like him but I don't think many could deny he has a great rugby brain that would be rivalled by very few in Australian rugby.

He's not getting a gig with RA at the moment. Is he anymore lost to the Australian game up the road at Newcastle then he would be in Japan or France?

Savelio Tamale has revealed his ambition to one day swap the tide of Green Machine of Canberra to the Wallabies green and gold.
But fear not, Raiders fans.
The breakout winger may not be shy about his dream that would eventually switch codes, but it won’t be happening any time in the near future.
“I’m pretty set on being a rugby league star,” Tamale said.
“But I’d love to later down my career hopefully get the chance to put on a Wallaby jersey. That dream is not over for me.
“But right now and for the next couple of years, I’m dedicated to the Canberra Raiders.”

Any job he’ll be linked to. The guy gets clicks and has won trophies all over the world. Tahs fail he’ll be mentioned. Next Reds coach fails with all the talent and he’ll be mentioned.

Look, he probably will still be mentioned in various articles, but Cheika has repeatedly and emphatically said he won't (and can't) coach the Reds. His word on these matters hasn't necessarily been too meaningful in the past, but it would be a particularly extraordinary turn around if he was to ever be seriously considered for the Reds job. The way he spoke about it on Inside Line this weak, that probably extends to the Brumbies job as well (though as far as I'm aware he's never said anything directly there).
