Nations Championship

That'll be murder* for those on the Fiji/Argentina/South Africa track, not a lot of direct flights between those destinations.

*Or it would be if Fiji were hosting their own games, my understanding is that they're playing their "home" games in Europe.
I wonder if the sponsor could help out?

I've heard they might be playing in South Africa

Top 14 final is the weekend before the first round. I kind of can't believe the French agreed to this schedule. There must be rivers of gold flowing in for it.

Yep sounds like Fiji home games will be in sth africa which reduces the travel. Wales look like the one to get dudded if they have to go sth africa - Argentina - sth Africa, but they might move that Fiji game to Argentina as well

Interesting though, I thought it was 1 ladder and not 2 separate groups. So you could end up with situation where all blacks and springboks for example both win 6 out of 6 and only 1 makes the final to play against a team from North who might have a couple of losses.

What sort of money is this Nations Championship likely to generate for countries?
I did the loose math previously, but that was based on rumoured figures and there’s a lot of unknowns like travel costs etc. but I believe RA were likely to get an extra $5-$10million the years it runs.

for teams like Fiji, potentially this could be a even greater jump if they’re hosting home games in other countries with larger stadiums.

It's basically copying the World Test Championship except it's probably cleaner.
Is the final always in Europe/UK?
Probably. Only way to see a SANZAAR hosted final would be if the end-of-year tests were the first half of the comp.

But I don't think the mid-year test window is long enough to include finals.

Plus the SH countries are geographically too far apart.
