Yeah they are all playing really well...
We have a problem with who is good and who isn't. One week we can point to 5 or 6 players not going well and the following game it is a different group going poorly. How the hell do you build a team with that dichotomy?

do you think Edmed etc. have been playing the house down

Do I think Edmed and non specified others are playing the house down, in response to another poster’s wild critique of another player and his bizarre assertion about its effect on the playing group?

Maybe you need to go back to asking more pertinent questions, like why is Tom Lynagh not playing this week? And why is it that he’s been in England and… Italy?

Might be the most words ever used to say absolutely nothing

I'm very impressed with young Ted Wilson in the Waratahs, and James Martens in the Reds.
Both have well credentialed rugby fathers. Ted is the son of David Wilson, the wallaby No 6, and James' dad is Hentie Martens, a Springbok No 9.
I can see them both rivalling each other for the gold jersey into the future.
7!

I saw on another rugby blog that our win percentage when Gordon starts is in the teens under Schmidt and that it is over 50% when he does not start? Not sure of the source.

Under Schmidt:
- Gordon 16 starts for 5 wins @ 31%
- White 8 starts for 4 wins @ 50%
- Tate 3 starts for 2 wins @ 67%
- non-Jake 11 starts for 6 wins @ 55%

Our overall win rate under Joe is about 41%, so Jake underperforming but then again Joe seems to revert to him for the 'big games', so losses more likely.

Food for thought. I’d guess that Lonergen is the most similar option to White and that Tate walks back into the 23 when fit. There are also a couple of young blokes at home playing 9 that look ready to push through. It makes sense to give Lonergen a start this week with Gordon at 10 with the former kicking for goal.

Looking at the games we have lost with him, Italy is the only game I would considered we had a chance in

As above - we are getting blown away in the last 10 / 15 mins fairly often at the moment, and often that'd be after the starting 9 leaves the field

Someone smart setup a Points for and against while on the field database for every international player

weren't we famously getting blown off the park and relying on big comebacks too at a stage?

Our bench impact has absolutely fallen off a cliff for this tour - I'd be looking at running Bell, Tupou, and probably Valetini off the bench this week to try and find that spark again. It's hard without someone like Tate to really shift he pace of the game at the same time though, and I'm not sure Kalani is quite ready to do that at this level.

Ok, I've gone through the main combinations (Back three, centres, halves, backrow, locks, front row). If we wanted to pick our most successful combination, that have played at least three times together under Joe, then we would pick:

15 Wright
14 Kellaway
11 Daugunu or Pietch

(both 3 games and 2 wins)

13 Flook
12 Paisami

(3 games and 3 wins - :))

10 Loloesio
9 Gordon

(8 games and 4 wins - but Noah not available so we revert to Edmed at 10 who has started 3 games with Jake with 1 win)

8 Wilson
7 McReight
6 Hooper

(5 games for 2 wins)

5 Williams
4 LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto)

(3 games for 3 wins)

3 Nella
2 Pollard
Slipper

(4 wins for 2 games - but with Slipper not available the next best combo is Nella, Faesller and Bell with 6 games for 2 wins)

Our worse performed team of combos is

15 Wright
14 Kellaway
13 JAS
12 Paisami
11 Daugunu
10 Lolesio
9 White
8 Wilson
7 Tizzano
6 Valetini
5 Frost
4 Williams
3 Nella
2 Faessler
1 Bell

All meaningless but a work disrtaction

Well back to this week, if we expect it to be wet and their coach is smart enough to watch tapes and watched us drop every high ball in keystone cops fashion, what is the solution?

Do we stick our giant at 15 at let JAS catch them, with say Pietch & Jorgo on the wings and stick Daugunu @ 13

Angus Grover this year's aussie 18s captain is superior to both Teddy Wilson and Martens, he would also already be a better bet than Lonergen & Kalanai Thomas. I'll go the early crow and suggest we might see Angus Grover at RWC 2027.
