Rebels coming fresh from a bye against a Stormers side who have to dug reallly deep in their talent pool.

Dewaldt Duvenhage out and will be replaced by another Paarl Gim gem, Louis Schreuder. Louis capained our 150th year Blood Sausages (the one which I describe in grassroots with the Smith Twins)http://www.greenandgoldrugby.com/forum/threads/3260-Paarl-Gym-150th-year-amp-Ruaan-Smith and have like Klein Jiohann Sadie some real Boland blood in his vains. His dad Bertie Schreuder played many a match for Boland with Groot Johann Sadie on his outside.

The Earl vokken Rose dilemma pretty much on the cards and I am worried like hell about this must win match for the Stormers.

Schreuder eyes Melbourne debut

Cape Town – Earl Rose and Louis Schreuder could both be in line for a Stormers debut in Melbourne on Friday after Dewaldt Duvenage was added to the Cape side’s injury list.

Duvenage injured an ankle in Saturday’s historic 16-3 win over the Brumbies in Canberra. He started at scrumhalf, but for the past two games also played a valuable role as the team’s second flyhalf.

With that option probably no longer at the Stormers’ disposal, they will have to make another plan. It was already announced last Friday that Rose will link up with the team on Monday.

The Stormers have since also called up Schreuder, who still played for the South Africa under-20 side with Patrick Lambie and Elton Jantjies last year.

Schreuder is predominantly a scrumhalf, but has also played flyhalf. Ricky Januarie is expected to wear the No 9 jersey against the Rebels.

Kurt Coleman had a nervous outing at flyhalf against the Brumbies, but Stormers coach Allister Coetzee is planning on keeping him in the starting line-up.

“It’s important that we give Kurt another chance. It’s a learning curve and the intensity at this level is greater than he is used to. He was good on defence on Saturday,” said Coetzee.

It will probably help to have an experienced flyhalf option for the substitutes bench.

Rose offers that and the magnitude of the Stormers’ injury crisis at flyhalf means that Cape rugby bosses have no option but to consider the Springbok who left Western Province under a cloud of controversy in 2005.

“Earl is in the picture. I will not allow the team culture to be negatively affected in any way,” said Coetzee.

He also revealed that the back spasm sustained by Springbok lock Andries Bekker was not serious.

Can't imagine the Stormers and the Rebels would get much of a crowd in Canberra :p

The Stormers looked *very* physical in their game last weekend. The effort of that game combined with the travel and playing a "cellar dweller" means they will need to focus to keep their guard up. They are an impressive and fearsome team so I expect they'll step up to the plate, no problems.

From an Australian (and Reds!) point of view I'd love to see the Rebels give it to them and get a win but I can't see it happening.

Paarl what was the cloud of controversy in 2005 with Rose, and why would having him in the squad negatively affect team culture?

Would be mamouth for australian rugby if the rebels got up in this match. Unfortunatly I don't see it happening.

He and his little Boet Jody left WP with his Pa as agent throwing his weight around. WP spend a lot of money developing them back then and it was about transfer fees if I remembered correct. Spoke to one of the current Griqua players dads yesterday and he assured me Earl is still bad in a team enviroment and probably the reason the Griquas let him go with ease. He may proove me wrong but I wont bet on it. I would have rather saw them using Boland 10 options or our own Ikey Greek.

Conservative. The Rebels just don't have anywhere near enough firepower to go with a team like the Stormers, we'll be doing well if it's inside 20 points.

I actually think the rebs would be better off picking cips and kingi and trying to hold onto as much ball as possible. Tactical kicking will be key but if they can keep the stormers out of there 22 and shut down there centre pairing of DeVilliers and Fourie than they are a faint hope.

This game is going to be much tigher then most thinks. Our lot usually struggle with the last game on a tour (one foot on the plane and a all mighty hunger for snoek and braai meat) altho the Stormers do travel better then the most SA sides. The 13 clash between Mossie and Mortlock will be a decider. Have huge amount of respect for Mortlock and pretty much the heart beat of the Rebels.

Shouldn't think Greg Somerville needs a rest straight after the bye week. Is he carrying an injury or is this one game the Rebels have decided they won't win?

Surprised that Ginger isn't on the bench. I know he's young but he looked OK when he came on, certainly not disgraced.

Frans Malherbe on the left as Paarl Boys High captain in the 2009 Paarl Interschools. Hope this young 124kg 190cm Galpil youngster get some playtime. Both he and Kitshoff missed out on the SA U20 squad due to theor Stormers call up.

Couple of points:

Gerrard is playing a great game in attack and defense,

scrum is alot better since Yoda has come on,

Huxley is really not Super level anymore tackling and execution has been very poor this whole season,

When Stormers want to attack and get organized they are a class outfit,

I hate to say it, but Huxley's execution has been woeful at times.
