Drown out the haka: Bledisloe II | Tri Nations finale

I was going to make this thread before last nights game, however I thought, perhaps not, It's not that special. Remembering 95000 SA fans drown out the haka last year in Soweto, I watched last nights game preparing for a toned down atmosphere. How wrong I was, Nelson Mandella Bay stadium is a brilliant venue, the roof hanging over the supporters and a real ding-dong roar when something happens.

Anyway, the bokke fans drowned out the haka, singing Ole! Ole Ole Ole! Ole! Ole!. It was menacing. It fired their boys up, you couldn't even hear the haka. It showed who's town this was.

And we need to do It next weekend In Brisbane, in my view. The only problem is what we yell and how we get everyone in the stadium doing it.

Can I suggest you rename the thread also, or the motive of this thread to "Supporting our boys during the Haka". You'll get a few people offside if you just want to drown it out.

LOL. It's not about political correctness, more about making the intention clear. I'm sure if the players realized our intention was to vocally support them in the face on that challenge, rather then purely to drown out the Haka for <insert reason>, they'd get a bigger motivation from the former.

That being said, that thread has plenty of Anti All Blacks chants.

Aussie fans are nothing like the Poms however, they practice every week at football games and although they may support different soccer/rugby clubs when they come together for England games they unite as one. There would have to be a complete culture change for Australian fans to attempt this, we pay too much respect to the spectacle of the Haka and thus go silent so we can all pull out our camera's and take happy snaps. Wouldn't mind seeing Waltzing Matilda following it just to calm the players down a tad but for now there's no pre game ritual that we can gain a psychological advantage on the Kiwi's with.

I'm sure you watched the Springboks beat the All Blacks last night & did you hear the Haka? I know I didn't because it was drowned out by the Springbok fans singing ole ole ole ole. So instead of banning the Haka as you have suggested why can't us Wallaby fans make enough noise to drown it out at Suncorp on saturday. Surely you or one of the Triple M listeners can come up with a chant.

Well I've just sent this message to Greg Martin who does a breakfast radio show in Brisbane & also does the Fox sports rugby show.

Seen as he is so against the Haka hopefully he will respond to our challenge.

Well your right about the Kiwi's... hell I copped abuse just for standing up when Digby made a break in round 15. I say fuck that, they're coming to our home ground, they have their welcome, we will have ours. I will be decked out in full gold come saturday and I will be screaming my face off come haka time. Let's hope Marto has a good look at Disco's letter eh?
