Auggies lost all their big boys last year so could be said to be rebuilding as view is.
Of interest is 15a draw, 16a solid win by Auggies, 3 and 2 win by Auggies.
Similar situation at Oakhill, where their strong team last year were nearly all in year 12.
Hope this View team does well as its the core of last years 16 Gordon and Norths teams so some very able boys in it. The following year 2014 I know they will be good.

1sts and 2nds are back, plus some rep players from their 16As last year. They never seem to lose a whole side, which is a reflection of their strength throughout the age groups.​

The usual starting xv include
8 Hanigan yr 11
10 Arnold yr 11
12 Donlan yr 11
13 Ibbotson yr 11
14 taylor yr 11
15 cochrane yr 11
2 Cooke yr 11
6 Walker yr 10
Natoli will be replaced by taefutu yr 11 who played 10 the last month whilst Cochcrane was out. 11 will be McDonald who also played most of the year.
Year 10 boys who have been blooded in the last month or so include backrowers Lough & George ???, And Kaplan who filled in at 12, also an islander boy who filled in at 13 quite a few times

Did I see in an earlier post that A.Kellaway was running at 10? If so, why, and how did he go?
either Scots have uncovered a better 15 (unlikely) or they are very short of quality 10's (more likely)

the current 15 is a 10, but more suited to 15. kellaway is a more confident player and can lead the team better from 10.

Scots actually have a really good 10 in Callum Stiles at 15 with Ben Starkey playing 12 so they'll be playing with 3 five eights this year. Joeys host Kings this weekend and Newington have Kinross in their last trials, any other games on ?

Gents, for Newington, all internal games were played today within the Newington College grounds. It was really great to see today the youngins to the opens playing their hearts out for a spot in the A's or the team they want to make. I would like to say that ill be surprised if Newington's 13A's don't do well this year. they looked superb at play and were achieving plays and structures that would not have been taught well before the likes of rapp and hill were setting the standards for Newington's rugby.

For the senior open newington boys, they have been utilising and learning new skills over a 2-day rugby camp finishing with an internal trial tomorrow. This will comprise and make the 1st XV, 2nd XV and 3rd XV.

How did the trial go ? in particular the boys coming back from athletics ? Simon Kennewell, Sepesa, Josh Mitchell what from what i ahem heard will be the back 3 for the new side?

Firstly, fix up your font to black to older men like me can read it. Secondly, they may be red-hot at the moment, but they will be truly tested once they hit the ovals of bellevue, hunters hill, Parramatta or Stanmore for that reason. Last year everybody was picking kings to win and look where they came!

Finally, weight doesn't mean everything when it comes to winning or close to it. Shore nearly took out the premiership and Newington last year and had one of the smallest packs in the GPS.

Heart, determination and team efforts will make or break teams this year. I look at The Shore School 1st XV as great examples of this.

From what I heard and saw, both Simon and Sepesa played evenly as well in their respective wing and fullback positions. Josh Mitchell on the other hand was dominating his wing very well, picking holes, isolating offenders and smashing through the 2nds defence.

As I have said before - View will be a tough first up assignment for New. I have stated that New may possibly be a bit underdone compared to the extensive trial regime the View have undertaken. It should be a great clash to commence proceedings - let's face it, there are no easy games this year!!!

Joeys host Kings this weekend and Newington have Kinross in their last trials, any other games on ?

I understand that the Newington trials in Orange will be a "three cornered" affair involving both Kinross and Stannies! Should be a great days rugby for all 3 schools and I for one will be sorry to miss it!

Let's hope "Scoop" GPSrow can get the good oil and some match reports!

We all know that The Bye will not perform this year and may even have to forfeit some games. If this happens, then there may be some merit in considering the Team from ISA Div 1 playing against the GPS 3rd XV opponent, in a "friendly" match and cutting The Bye out of it.

Going on results to date (St Pius X vs High was 66-0), some of the stronger ISA Div 1 Schools may send a 2nd XV or 3rd XV along when they have the ISA game vs The Bye to make them a little more competitive for all concerned.

From all accounts the bye has had a big off season and is looking forward to coming down into the 3rd XV competition. It's no secret that attack has never been a strength of the bye, but they are looking to improve this as they have recently employed a new attacking coach, Brian Ye. I think that their spot in the GPS competition is well deserved, and having a ISA team in the competition wouldn't really make it a GPS competition anymore. It's all about tradition.

It's never been about the score for The Bye! Week after week The Bye turn up to little or no accolades and every week give their best. I am pleased to see that the concerns for The Bye's future continue to hold a place for contributors at G&GR.
