Unlikely. If it was that close, the ABs would've lifted as they always do and they would have scored again. That's an overly simplistic view of course, but NZ are so good at composing themselves in those situations, they can maintain scorelines very well.

While I agree with you that the All Blacks would have had something up their sleeve to come back at the Aussies, it would have been interesting to see how they played the game for 20 minutes with 14 men (Nonu's shoulder charge then someone being sent for cynical fouls).

I don't think the result would have changed, but I do think the game would have been more of an arm wrestle especially with the AB's effectiveness at ruck time being hampered.

So much criticism being thrown around. Get behind your national side or don't watch at all. People are now calling Genia to sit on the bench, I'm sorry but he is easily the best 9 in the world.

He was in 2010 and 2011 but hasn't been since. The problem is his form has been down for a couple of years now, but he's still played like 90% of every test, and they still continue to label him "best in the world". Give him a rest, White is certainly good enough.

P.S: I'm looking forward to "Dwyer's view". He was complaining about the ref last week, when the penalty count was something like 12-6 in favour of the Wallabies. What hell will he unleash on poor Peyper, now that the count is reversed?

Well, care to offer a serious alternate view if you want.
Sure. Our penalty wasn't reversed. NZ finally cop a yellow card, we take the points. Find some space in the next 10 minutes and score a try. Momentum with AUS, build pressure, ABs continue to give away 3's to save tries, we keep applying scoreboard pressure and win.

I agree. However, as with all Australia sports teams, if their supporters weren't fair weather supporters, they'd probably do much better. Support your teams through thick or thin guys! All Countries do it except for Australia. Maybe the problem isn't so much the teams as it is the supporters?

You just love sweeping generalisations don't you. Utter rubbish.

This thread has now completed the post-match cycle..........

biggsy has once again blamed the loss on "To [sic] many Brumbies."

Otherwise "It's all the ref's fault"..........

Shiggins has lost his shit...........

Enter new Kiwi troll...........

Shut it down.

Ah, the trolling is strong in this one....

It's not trolling. Look what happened to Australia's Cricket team and their recent Olympians. Their complete dominance came to an end (Swimming guys for Olympics) and suddenly they're public enemy number #1. That's half the problem. As soon as Australia's top teams stop performing, the public turn on them and expect to them perform better as a result of lack of support.

yeah, my view on points changing decisions is that the entire game from thereon would play out differently so it's erroneous to adjust the scoreline simply by that number of points, unless of course it's the last play of the game. which is why I bracketed the word 'possibly', but the point being it changed the momentum from the Wobs to the AB's.

This point cannot be made enough. Speculating on what would have happened if a decision went the other way goes against basic logic.

Is the ref really to blame? Talk about whiners....lol (i partial to one quite frequently) but just sore losers...crikey... Thought the Deans-era was bad... I think the stats showed the Wobs had more possession and overall it was pretty even except the scoreboard... - the wobs had more than enough ball to score points and played positively in the beginning half hour but went limp... The blame should rest solely on lack of 'ticker' - plain and simple.

Let me start again.

When I watched the al blacks take the Bledisloe they didn't seem overly exited about it. That's why I mentioned about deserving it. There is no doubt the wallabies wanted it more when you look at the faces of the boys. It's was also good to see the wallabies players look devastated about loosing for once.

Bit of a no win situation here Shiggins. We jump about and laugh, and you'll brand us as cocky and arrogant. We quietly accept the trophy and you claim we take it for granted and don't really want it as much as the Wobbs. If there's one trophy that means as much to the ABs as the Webb Ellis, its the Bledisloe

No the ref was not "really" to blame but he sure as sugar did not help.

Does your arsehole have lips? I'm just curious how you form your vowels otherwise when talking out your backside? Not knocking you, you just seem to do it really well!

Except for the Moore no try - if awarded converted because kick from same spot as Lilo's first penalty and restart on halfway

not necessarily true as the scoreline would have been different so that may have affected where they kicked the ball to from the kick off..additionally, the ref would have gone upstairs before awarding the try so it would have been a minute or so later, the wind may have been different, the players would not have been standing in exactly the same spot for the kick off, etc, etc...

If you can't do better than that then I think this argument is over.

To be fair they are only 2 matches down in the Rugby Championship, to start celebrating now would be premature.. Yes they retained the Bledisloe, but that will count for little in the eyes of their fans if they lose their remaining tests against Aus and RSA
So the Bledisloe doesn't mean as much to the kiwis then the Australians? I would prefer to hold the Bledisloe then the rugby championship any day. Both would ben be better

Lesson of the day is "who gives a stuff about what other people think of you". It don't matter in the big picture.

That's not an Australian-specific thing - witness the reaction the ABs losing various RWCs, the English at many stages in many sports. Teams that are dominant, then fall off the perch, generally fall foul of their fans who have grown accustomed to success. In NZ, what the hell else are they gonna watch instead of rugby? Here - they'll drift to other sports, if they're like a lot of fans who follow more than one code.
Hard to pin the ongoing failure to fans.
Your sweeping statement is pretty ridiculous, so don't be too surprised that it went down like a lead balloon.
