Link's selections piss me off. Robinson and Timani need to start. Tomane needs to be dropped. Hooper has been ineffective against big packs, Gill has shown he is effective.

I'm happy that Will Genia is starting with Quade, given that, when asked a couple of months ago, "who is your preferred fly half", replied "Quade Cooper"! I think he is experienced enough to know who best compliments his style of play.
Our players just need to play to their ability, in particular, Israel Folau, who is paid big dollars to give big performances, and apart from three or four runs, he hasn't showed total commitment. Too many backs wait for the opposition to come to them, rather than running at them at full pace. Our forwards don't have that problem, but are under-performing in other facets of their game.
The dispute with the ARU over payments can't be helping team morale either!
The wallabies can win this one, but will they? I'm saying they will, (just).

We'll play at least 10 minutes a player down. That pack has been munted repeatedly, we now face the best scrum yet. On form, I would say Argentina. Aus will probably lift, as they randomly do, but we'll lose by a few. I just don't see the grunt and graft there to do it.
I don't like to be the guy that says I told you so...
Actually, scrap that. I love being that guy. Also really excited to see Foley's debut. Hopefully he gets on the field and gets more than a couple of minutes.

i cannot see the logic behind picking the 2 props that have consistently been belted up front.
unless link is trying to lull the argies into a false sense of security with a 13 point lead and us a man down at half time, hoping we can run them down in the back end of the game, through the use of brilliantly timed substitutions and the liberal use of prayers that have players suddenly and miraculously finding a way to score a pack of tries.
if this works i will be prepared to recognise link as a truly genius tactician, quite possibly a saint, or at the very least having a direct line to the big fella upstairs.

RC: Good points.
It really surprises me that there's been little debate here re Gill sitting at home in Brisbane.
He's clearly the best fit classic fetching 7 that we have, his stats v Hooper prove that, he's shown generally good personal and skill development over recent years, he also links well with support, tackles very well, passes well, and so on.
Hooper IMO is the best dynamic 12 we've ever had at 7. His over 80 minutes over-the-ball work at the breakdown has been at best passable, at worst a serious concern in the type of contest we must face re the best Test teams' capabilities at the breakdown. Our back row is clearly less effective in its current form than is required, and lacks balance as there's no excellence in consistent, effective on-ball work.

Oh wait that's right....
Ok then some serious sessions with our scrum expert to fix some technique issues will solve it.

I expect the Pumas to win. The Wallabies' pack has been beaten up by both the ABs and the Saffas and on paper will suffer the same this time against the Argies. We have been beaten at the breakdown in all RC games to date. Our defensive structures have been largely non-existent, and the backs haven't remembered how to score tries. The game plan in the first half last week gifted the win to the Saffas.
Changing the half back for this game isn't going to address these problems. Pumas by 2 converted tries.
If the Wallabies can show some equality at scrum time, more competitiveness at the breakdown, more committed defence and some ability to attack with the ball, they just might run the Argies close or even win. If some of this happens, I will be more confident that Link is starting to get his message across to the team. I am not confident though given his persistence with Benny A, Slipper at LH, Simmons and Ben Mowen at 8. Imo these are the areas that need to be addressed.

I'm trying really hard not to throw my hands up at Link's selections so far, but that's getting harder and harder.

I particularly like the fact that the opposition are no bigger, heavier or lower. I wonder if he measures that from his head position relative to his arse, or looking up from the turf?
I think his description is pretty accurate.
1. Wallabies fan watches scrum.
2. Wallabies get penalised or lose a tight head.
3. Wallabies fan goes mental and throws something at the TV.
It is definitely mental at this point. Calm and rational disappeared a while ago.
