After Joey's dismal performance against the "boys from the east" I really think you should retract this statement.
I completely agree with you, although they will soon show their talent on the field. I believe they have the potential to be in the top 3 placing.

We won't see the best of joeys until term 3 after the holiday rugby camp. That will settle the best 15. This year's trials were a mess there is little combination or cohesion given time there will be improvement

10. Bailey Kuezuel (N-1STXV)
11. Luke Rixon (E-2NDXV)

14. Will Terry (R-2NDXV)
15. Barnes (J-16A)

Clearly there are many lads on this list who must have impressed in the past and their form in the recent trials and the first round of the comp has provided further reassurance in some peoples view that they are more "probables" than "possibles" of making the side.

Having watched some of the players in this list I don't doubt they are serious contenders but I wonder how many of the ones I haven't seen are new to the GPS comp? I would hazard a guess that it wouldn't be any/many? It will be interesting to compare the above against the final selections for U16's 1st XV & 2nd XV .

Joeys won 25 out of 30 games .. and there is a problem?

By my calculations, that is win rate of over 80%, and ignores that there were a number of games where Joeys were matching up against higher Scots teams (eg Joeys 12ths versus Scots 8ths) .... not sure of the Glengary effect?

Either way, Joeys rugby dominance increases as the kids age ... makes sense

so my conclusion Joeys programme is "alive and well"

and while yes I agree, Joeys need to do the "post-mortem" ... Scots might also need to similarly ask why they didn't do better, outside of the 1st XV

maybe $cots needs to hatch a Glengary indoctrination programme

Is this Charlie Smith any relation of Ray Smith? ... If so that would make Charlie a pure Scotsman ... as Ray I believe played with Crichton's old man ...back in whatever winning team that was ..87?

In 3rd XV news, Scots halfback is expected to miss next round with a mouth injury. John did tour South Africa and played very well in the 3rds on the weekend, prompting questions to why he was not in a higher team. If Callum Styles injury proves to be long term, perhaps John Beith will shift into the 2nds. [DELETED - Careful what you say - Mods]. I truly wish to see him don the Scots’ gold jersey at some point this season.

Joeys remains the gold standard regardless of the first XV performance cycles and the Arms Race that is being pursued by some other schools.

ARU are in deep doodoo if the Catholic schooling system in general, and Marist Brothers and Jesuits in particular, decide to drop rugby to focus on another winter sport.

Perhaps one of the more mathematically inclined Gaggerlanders could produce a KPI metric similar to the Shute Shield Club Championship calculations to monitor overall School Rugby programme performance, rather than just the performance of the rock-stars in 1st XV, which we have seen can so easily be manipulated with late entries and selective enrolments,
ie 1st XV results accounting for 25% of the overall mark for the School, 2nd XV is 10%, 3rd XV and 4th XV is 5%, 16's is worth 20% (A's 10%, B's 5% and C's 5%), 15's is worth 15%(A's 10%, B's 2.5%, C's 2.5%), and 14's and 13's are worth 10% each (A's 5%, B's 2.5%, C's 2.5%).

So it looks like 3 teams will contest the comp. with sides running up 'cricket' scores against the other remaining 3. What a sad situation. But I can only smile as others stood by and watched what happened to High Rugby while they built their 'temples'. Welcome to Third Grade - Shore and Kings, just a matter of time.

I think some of the "malaise" in High rugby can be laid at the feet of the mandarins in the Education Department who have made it academically selective, and certain other schools sports selective.

The traditional "local zone" of recruitment for High includes Randwick, Eastern Suburbs and the close Inner West and elements of the lower North Shore.

Some good organic rugby talent from that gene pool that has obviously not been able to meet the Academic Selective criteria. That talent had to go somewhere, and some has been lured into the "temples", and some has been lost to (or stayed in) Mungoball .

HJ, High's win lose in the Third/C's tier was over 60% last year. My point is the first XV comp is close to dead, but alive and kicking in the thirds/c's. Feels like where the true believers will end up. Bit like the Bears v Jets in Mungo. I

just stating the facts rugby mum. ok maybe the 2nds and 3rds. :)

You perhaps won't be so smug next year when half the scholarship holders of that fine financial institution called Scots depart. Now that you have been caught with your hands in the till, the level playing field should return…….

Joeys will come 3rd this year in the 1sts. And I will be praying especially hard for my Catholic friends at Riverview to smash Scots.

And BTW, Joeys won the 2nds comp last year, did well in the 3rds and 16As, etc etc etc etc. What were Scots stats or is all the focus on 1sts and not building school culture?

Shouldn't be too downcast. Plenty of teams beat T$C on the weekend. $cotts should be worried though. Here are the OTHER teams that beat Joeys.

13E
13F
14D
14F

So if there is a run of injuries..looks like a few little lads will get a call up.

Bear in mind the following:

TSC 14D played SJC 14E
TSC 14F played SJC 14G
TSC 13E played SJC 13F
TSC 13F played SJC 13G
