Western Sydney Rams . NRC Official Team Thread

Did anyone notice all of the hoardings at tg Milner on the abc today advertising the greater Sydney rams? There was quite a good crowd to see the woodies get up and you have to assume gsr will be well supported.

Rams need to cover for all supporters however which extends to southern. Fixing it at Milner is a long drive from Port hacking

Even Parramatta is a hike for people down here RF.

I will probably end up supporting the Rams even though I am not happy that Souths have aligned themselves with a Western Sydney team.

It takes forever and a day to get out there as it is since I am studying out there on Thursday and Fridays.

I really had hoped there would've been a resurrection of the Illawarriors club that we could've aligned ourselves with.

An alignment with the Illawarra would be a better fit in the long term. The geographical spread of the GSR is a little too broad but a necessary evil in the first season or two. For some time now I have thought that an alignment between both Southern Districts and the Illawarra made sense particularly at the junior rep level.

It would it in a way form a huge geographical spread itself but with that the district would have a much larger base in which to draw from and it works for RL.

So long term you guys think there might eventually be 5 teams in Sydney? Rams, Rays, Stars plus Randwick/Easts and a Southern Sydney/Illawarra team?

It's interesting to think what the ideal number of teams would be if it's successful. 2nd Brisbane team, Adelaide, Newcastle, Central Coast, North Queensland. All would be options. The question is how many would be too many.

Maybe. Who knows. I just think that Southern would be better served aligning with the Illawarra. Engadine already compete in the Illawarra senior structures so there a link in existence. There's a good facility in which they could play out of in Wollongong in the form of the Collegians Sports Ground. Has a very nice new grandstand with a capacity of 5,000 right next to the motorway.

In time, I could see the NSW Country bid morphing into a Central West team with Newcastle and the Illawarra becoming involved in some way.

Certainly think that Adelaide should get a run in time.

Totally agree. It's clear the Western Sydney Rams (as they may as well be called) don't want Souths. On their Facebook page is describes the club as "the best from the West (and south)" Says it all.

While I will be following the NRC this season, It will probably mean I won't have a team.

I just can't bring myself to go for a Western Sydney team.

Where did you read that the Western Clubs don't want Souths involved? You've drawn quite the long bow from my comment. I've thought for some time that Souths should look to some sort of partnership with the Illawarra in the Shield let alone the NRC. I personally think it would be a better fit. That's it.

I was agreeing with the fact that Illawarra would be a better fit based on the Rams Facebook page & the "(& souths)" is almost like & afterthought. All promo seems to be weighted toward Eastwood. JMO

When someone says they agree with you generally you shouldn't challenge them.!?
I was just referring to the Rams Facebook page & the "(& souths)" is almost like & afterthought. All promo seems to be weighted toward Eastwood. JMO

When someone takes your comment out of context, its usually best to clarify your position.

What promo are you referring to? If it's the placard on the sideline at TG Milner, there's one at Merrylands as well. I think it's more on the clubs to put those in place at present.

Every club has the options to put the signs up and the operations are directed by southern. The signs were also paid for by southern.
