Wow!, thanks for the info HTC, I think this side has a great range of talent, certainly hope they can stick around for a couple more years, they will be a threat come 2018-19, coaching staff included! I know it won't be easy keeping them!

NSW Waratahs U20s has defeated the Brumbies Colts side 31-19 in the ACT side’s first match of the 2016 season at GIO Stadium.
The first half was a battle for momentum with both teams having equal opportunities over the first 30 minutes. The Brumbies backline looked dangerous early on, until playmaker Nick Jooste was forced from the field with a heavy knock to the hip.
The home side’s forward pack worked hard and found rhythm in defence quickly, holding out several onslaughts from the Waratahs close to the try line.
The Brumbies scrum kept them well and truly in the battle, Tyrel Lomax and Co. winning all of their own scrums in the first half and turning the ball over once against the ‘Tahs feed.
The Brumbies also earned a number of penalties from scrum time, with the NSW boys trying to turn the scrum under too much pressure from the Brumbies tight head Faaleilei Sione.
The Brumbies Colts looked on top until the dying minutes of the first half, when a slick backline play saw the Waratahs winger Sam Tabuatamata break the right edge Brumbies defence and cross the line for an unconverted try.
Canberra coach Russel Ingrim thought after a low scoring first half the boys had every chance to win the game, which unfortunately was not to be.
“We just didn’t get enough points in that first half, we had plenty of opportunities but we just couldn’t execute. We adjusted well when Nick came off, there were no excuse there – the boys that came on were excellent” Ingrim said.
It didn’t take long for the Waratahs to step up in the second half, scoring on the Brumbies left edge through fullback Jack Maddocks, who converted his own try.
The Brumbies hit back immediately with good breaks from Jamie Kotz on the left wing, and captain Jordan Jackson-Hope gaining plenty of yards up the middle before tighthead Faleilei Sione crossed the line with a barnstorming run to end up under the posts.
The game slipped away from the Brumbies for the remainder of the match, conceding three consecutive tries and losing hooker Siuta Tai to the sin bin.
The coaches message in the 70th minute was to hang in and go for as many points as possible, plenty of fresh legs went on the field and Brumbies did just that.
A big effort from 17-year old front rower Tom Ross was influential with three big hit ups and six crucial tackles giving the side a boost of energy in the last 15 minutes.
A valiant fight-back in the final minutes saw a sharp intercept try from fullback Harry Tyson outrunning the entire NSW team which was backed up by stunning effort from utility back Jamie Kotz to break down the left wing, chip and chase the fullback to score a brilliant try in the corner.
There were some strong individual efforts for the Brumbies around the park, notably Harry Tyson, Iziah Tittor, captain Jordan Jackson-Hope and Mitchell Doutch receiving plenty of praise from coach Ingrim.
The final word from the coach was “I’m really proud of the way they stuck to it… They’ve just got to believe in what they’re doing and defensively make sure they stick the one-on-one tackles, which will win us plenty of footy games”.
The Brumbies Colts travel to Perth next week to take on the Force U20s.

Very sad to hear Nick Jooste came off injured as I have heard he looks destined to become the next Larkin. Tom Ross looks promising at 17 yrs he certainly in the mix. All the best for next week brumbies

If you go to the little blue arrow at the end of each match mentioned, it takes you to the full score sheet for each game. The results are there, and half time scores, but they're not bothering to fill in any other details like try scorers and conversions, red / yellow cards, etc.

Looking like the Final of the Curtain Raiser Cup will involve Qld who will most likely be undefeated after round 5.

Home town advantage should go to the "minor premier" but there is no Reds home game in round 6 of the Super Rugby, so its unlikely that they would hire Lang Park just for a Under 20 match.

Would the final be held at Ballymore Stadium?

I also see that Gen Blue are playing at Sydney University on 19 March which is coincidentally Round 1 of Shute Shield.
According to the Shute Shield draw, Sydney University are at home to Eastwood on that day, and I presume that this may well be the grand opening of the redeveloped No 2 Oval.
Will the U20's be playing the Curtain Raiser to the Shute Shield game, or will they be relegated to St Paul's Oval because No 2 Oval is booked for Shute Shield games?

I think that is the same Brumbies forward pack that took on the Gen Blue boys. The write up out of Canberra was a complete hack job. I don't want to dish to much on the boys as most of them went ok.....however, when the coach praises players who actually had rubbish games, you have to wonder what is going through his head.
The starting tight five did well, but the back row were shocking. The big number eight hurt his shoulder early in the game so was a bit ineffective, fair enough cut him some slack. The 6 and 7 were terrible, they walked around the paddock got zero turn overs for the whole game and were ordinary at best in attack, the only turn over from the loosies was the number 20 who came on with 15 or 20 minutes to go in the game he got three or four in a short time and made a big bust up the middle.
The reserve front row got belted when they came on, obviously a massive gap between the starting props and reserve props.
Nick Jooste should be right to play, hopefully he gets a bit of depth in the back line and gets the boys hitting the ball at pace instead of at a stand still.
It was their first game granted but if they have been training for months and that is the best they can do..... .
Full back had a great game, couple of passes behind the player when he slotted up to first five but otherwise solid job.
Winger scored a cracking try.
The number 20 had a big impact when he came on, why he is not starting is a mystery (may be coming back from injury).
Starting props were great in the scrum and the number 1 big and tough around the paddock.
Number 4, big motor.
Number 6 really disappointing.

Fortunately the Big Brums absolutely gave it to the Tahs.

Pulver, can you use some of that 300+ million to live stream the under 20s. I know they are not your gold children Wallabies, or fine wine mates but fair dinkum give the kids a bit of exposure, frustrated.
