theres no eales, smiths, gregans, mortlocks, tunes, roffs, larkhams, lathams. anywhere in australian rugby, last year was a miricle for the wallabies with the talent they have

Well the French made it to the RWC final a couple of times without having a great international season prior or a great squad on paper. So maybe coming second in a RWC isn't as great as we'd liked.

NSW Police still haven't worked out who planted the bug but have ruled out the All Blacks (duh) & betting syndicates (not sure how they'd know that without first knowing who did plant the thing, but Anyhoo.):

I'm thinking that in a few weeks or months, after they've gone through all the CCTV, there'll be a statement to the effect "We still don't have a freakin' clue who did it".

Just imagine if Cheika is actually found guilty

^^^^^^^ as I said at the time it was found, I seriously doubt Chieka or anyone else at ARU would be stupid enough to have had anything to do with it due to the dire consequences of being caught.

I'm surprised they've ruled out illegal gambling, that would seem to leave a media organisation of some kind as the logical culprit but I really don't see why they'd do it, they'd surely lose any accreditation they might have & no one in any sport would ever trust them again, and for what possible gain? Very, very, very odd.

There is the possibility the bug was probably in the room for a long long time, for another purpose completely. Found years later, because who would sweep the room often? All Blacks probably first organisation to sweep the room for bugs in years, if not ever.

One of the early stories claimed it could only have a battery life of several days so had to have been recent. Who knows whether that was just speculation or based on something concrete.

To me it seems more likely it was there for a purpose other than the All Blacks.

Quoted article again says three day battery life & active when found so either they bugged the wrong room, or AB were in fact the target, for God knows what reason(s) as none of them make sense to this dumb-ass kiwi.

I don't know what is involved in 'sweeping a room' so would be interested to hear from anyone that might be in the know.

Is it as simple as a visual search? Or do they use some sort of elaborate electronic device detecting electronic device?

The fact that someone apparently tried to bug the All Blacks meeting room is baffling in and of itself but the fact that the All Blacks have in their standard operating procedure, a sweep of meeting rooms etc, says to me that people trying to bug sports teams isn't as far out an idea as it seems to us regular Joe's.

Does anyone know of any other sporting teams that do this? Would it happen at Super level? @RugbyReg have you ever heard of this at the Reds?

It is more then a visual sweep. It involves electronic devices.

I'm sure Steve Hansen said it is part of there standard procedure so I don't think it's that uncommon.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if some-one in Australian rugby was guilty - Cheika even.

Probably time to put your tinfoil hat away.

I'm hardly a conspiracy theorist.
But given Australian rugby would benefit more then any other organisation from obtaining classified information from the All Blacks I really don't see anything wrong with them being number one suspects. Cheika included.

You wouldn't be surprised if Cheika jeopardised his entire career and committed a criminal offence to try and listen in on a meeting?

Are you fucking serious?

A team gets bugged a couple days before a test match it's only natural to investigate the opposition team first.

So yeah, I'm serious. The odds that they actually did it are very slim but they are still the number one suspects.

So settle the fuck down.

Mind boggling then that the NSW Police haven't hauled their number one suspect down to the station for questioning.

I wonder whether they'll confiscate his passport to stop him leaving the country?

In terms of what there is to gain from bugging the AB's I would say that the Wallaby cap would be about third on the list. Betting agencies would be top, the media a close second. I really don't think that anything we can learn from them a few days out from the Test is going to help us a great deal.

They did question him. That's what he was complaining about along with the clown article.

Why are you so angry? Did you do it Braveheart? ;)

I'm not even saying he did it, I'm just saying it's not unfair to investigate the opposing team after a bugging scandal. They do have motive after all. Cheika is part of Australian rugby, so indirectly, or even directly it's a possibility.

So with zero evidence at all, police should investigate Australian rugby. It's not different to police investigating a husband from a cheating wife who was murdered with zero evidence. You investigate those with motive. Cheika and Australian rugby HAVE MOTIVE - there is no denying that.

You can't rule him out completely just because "why the fuck would he risk his career".

You would make a horrible detective.
