Clear differentiation there between Premier Rugby and Community Rugby also.

Out of interest, who is/was on salary at the NSWRU ? :)

Less than $60k per club. Less than 10% of club expenses I would suggest. Thats assuming this is going to the clubs. Could be something else.

So you'd be happy for that $700k, for whatever it's for is peanuts, to be allocated elsewhere to allow the SRU to further enjoy their autonomy.

Look, if Begg's contacts can stump up the wherewithal to run the competition in its entirety then I, for one, would be all for it.

EDIT: you were expecting the rugby world outside of the SRU and the clubs themselves to tip in another $6.3M?

Break it down on the basis of $/player and compare what they get to grass roots rugby. Complete skew. Amd the same system of funding as every other state RU.

At the end of the day, you would have thought creating the SRU was all about chasing $opportunities. My sincere best wishes on that score.

Love to see some detail of the item "Corporate".

Absolutely. You should write to them and ask.

New South Wales Rugby Union Limited
Volvo Centre
Allianz Stadium
Driver Avenue
Moore Park NSW 2021
This is one of the things about the "administration" of rugby in NSW. There are a multitude of "Corporate"s.

You've got the Waratahs. I sort of get that a pro team might need its own board of directors and executive. Except they're wholly owned by the NSWRU, with their own duplicate board and executive.

And now you've the got the SRU. They're autonomous. Separate from the Waratahs, separate from the NSWRU, and (especially) separate from the ARU.

How many hangers-on are there sucking at the teat?

Don't get me wrong, it's no paradise in the other states. But three organisations in Sydney (four, if you count the ARU) for a sport that's barely above basket case status is taking the piss.

This is a cancer on rugby. It's time to wield the axe.

No, I'm just saying that the $60k per club (if it is going to the clubs, which I doubt) is only about 10% or less of the total cost of each club putting 7 teams on the field. The clubs finance themselves through sponsorship etc.

I'm not saying that --- please see my response above #634

If the ratings keep increasing, the Shute shield could become quite a money spinner if the right people are involved.

Mate you are dancing around the issue. How much funds, hell give or take say 50%, how much were you expecting the rest of the rugby world to drop into your pocket?

From your own positioning, I have a grasp at a figure of over $6M. If that's not right, simply speak up. What is it, half that? Quarter? Tenth?

You are currently receiving a massive skew in the NSWRU funds. It's apparently insufficient. Name a figure, I'm just trying to work out where you are starting from.

Clearly $700,000 is desultory.

Warringah and NSW Country Coach:

Coleman, who has coached an NRC team and a Shute Shield side for the past three seasons also weighed in on the SRU’s decision to schedule the Shute Shield grand final on the same weekend that the opening round of the NRC is expected to be played.

“I work in both competitions and they are both great competitions, I value them both equally and they both have a really important place in Australian rugby. How they can’t come up with a compromise that suits both competitions just astounds me,” he said

"We saw last year, particularly with the NSW sides, we all got a two week prep and we were all a lot more competitive.”

Well, I better tell my young bloke and couple of his mates that they are in limbo land.
As I said there is not a CC kid playing SS. There may be plenty of lower grade kids or colts, but not one in Shute Shield. Lots of kids playing at Sydney clubs not Shute Shiels
