Still a bit of semi-local rugby going on. Central Coast Rugby up to Preliminary Final stage this weekend and is being live streamed on YouTube. Hornsby blew a 20 point lead last week to go down against Ourimbah.
Also Sunday arvo's on NITV (Ch 34) there is W.A and S.A. Premier Grade rugby.
Might also add when Brothers served our arses on a platter in Round 4 made us reassess our structure which started with Wakehurst but clicked, as mentioned above, against Savers and was successful against Chatswood.
I disagree with the reference to the refereeing performance. Savers yellow card early in that game came from repeated indiscretions in their 22 while under attack . I think it was Confusius who said 'once you get the ref offside it's hard to get him back'.....Honestly I think it was more a case...
Can confirm they are not Marlin's rejects. Seem to have a constant supply of South American backpackers with a large proportion of solid Clubman. Have been very consistent front runners in Div 6 over the years but lacking in consistent numbers to make the move up a division. Speaking from...
Currently reading the recently departed All Black Andy Haden's book. A quote from the Prologue, 'Mixing socially with your opposition after a contest is enriching in itself, a privilege regardless of the level at which you are competing, a privilege the must always be protected'.
Nice work. Great reading. I have an old Subbies book filed away in my storage cage/dungeon that lists all the Subbies clubs up until about this time, the early 2000's. The number of banks (including 'The Reserve') that ran sides was suprising.
Take heart though, the one you got right you called correctly a few months back...
Wasn't the greatest game of Rugby ever seen. Savers missed an early penalty kick from right in front that cost them dearly.
Believe he scored a try in his 600th too!
I often say playing rugby keeps me attached to any remaining youth i have.
Reminds me of a few years back chatting to the 800+ game veteran from Canterbury Bruce Leigh about how he fell off a ladder in his backyard and landed on his head. Was told that...
Terrible off field incident today at Kerlie Park for Savers v Raptors. Ball being kicked into touch from penalty strikes unsited Savers stalwart on top of head rendering unconscious. In hospital with potential spinal injuries. Not good.
