Correction to the above - the first game Lynagh played against Souths they scored 26 points , although 7 of those points were put down to a defensive intercept . The 2nd game against Brothers they were still constrained in appalling conditions, although as noted above , Brothers were still able...
Am hearing that Tom Lynagh is done for the season in UQ Colts after 2 appearances.
A loss for UQ considering they have only been able to score over 19 points once in 6 games . One of those games was a forgive in the appalling conditions v. Brothers at UQ - although that didn’t stop Brothers...
Outside of the surprise in closeness of Wests v UQ result ( 2 x rolling Maul tries- Penalty tries and not much else ) the bigger surprise was the Easts v Sunnybank low score result.
Sounds like it.
Maybe if Souths had have played 2 out of 3 of their Colts eligible players and no silly buggers at their 9 spot maybe a different result. With respect to these players they are not going to make much of a difference to a result in a close Prem Grade game.
This, and also the...
Look out for a 15 at Norths by the name of Hamish Muir. Could surprise people this year. In that same mould as a Floyd Aubrey - Mac Grealy combo. Not saying he is as good but he looked pretty good coming out of Villa a couple of years ago. Not sure where he’s been ? Injured or League perhaps ...
Good for him. There might be some intention to get some time in Prems. But yes, the literal message of what I was told doesn’t seem to be the case. I do believe though, that Souths can’t be that black and white about it. Clubs have to be a bit more fluid about who plays where in order for them...
I think the Reds have got it pretty right in the last few years. If you look at what they’ve passed on in the last 2-3 years I think in the majority of cases for those that are already U19 and U20 and U20 + I think it’s a case that other franchises have picked up the fish that John West...
Pheely played Prems last year in spots and spent a fair amount of time in Reggies. He’s not coming back and I would think Tierney stays up as well. Perceval is part of a quality U20 lock mix with Shaw, Robinson and VDS Jr. I have VDS Jr and Robinson as the best of them. I equate Mr Perceval...
If Lynagh plays half a dozen games then yes. Depends on a few other things that need to resolve properly as well. For example, the young fella that started at 3 against Brothers last week needs to stay at 3. Raw in general positional play with a bit to learn but one of the best natural...
If Lynagh does play a bit and with a couple of backline tweaks, and, with two of Lachie Shaw, Will Robinson and Michael Van Der Schyff coming back (a starting lock and a starting 8) then I would absolutely put UQ back in an interchangeable top 3 with Easts and Souths
Well there you go. That was my initial mail that I shared a couple of months ago that I copped some stick on. The young fella hasn’t played a lot of competitive Rugby for 8-9 months at a guess. Wherever he plays, for his sake, he needs to be playing competition games
All forwards though where I would guess half will stay up in Prems - Reggies and half will come back. UQ dominated the set piece in 1’s without a starting lock and a starting 8. Yet, despite set piece dominance and fair ball opportunity it was a genuine 4 tries to 2 loss with no shortage of...
