RWC 2015 Final - Australia v New Zealand, Twickenham, Sunday 1 November, 3:00 AEDT

I was in a Pub in Horsham in the Wimmera district of Victoria last week and was surprised to hear a conversation between three local farmers about the Rugby WC. They had some idea what they were talking about too, and had obviously watched a fair bit of the Wallaby games. I doubt there is a...

Rugby League players who could have/could make the switch

I'll take a bite on The Rocks bait. My cousin was a recent captain of South Sydney and a premiership winning player at Easts, which in Rocks view might give me some cred. My nephew was signed up by a league club at 15, two years after entering an agreement along with his parents to accept...

    Andrew Fifita

Fifita is a very good footballer, but he is apparently prone to "off field incidents". He would need to go to a coach with a strong disciplinary record.

2013 Super Rugby Semi Final - Bulls vs Brumbies

    Is he on for Clyde?

    Brumbies v Highlanders Super Rugby R5 2012

First try was an intercept which eventuated from good defence in the backline which appeared to fluster the Highlanders a bit and so a risky pass was thrown. Tomane showed good speed to clear the defence zone, and from there he was accelerating away with very good top speed. His second try was...

Professional Rugby set for the USA

There is also the factor that a lot of "gridiron" players drop out of the game at every stage, ie High School, College, etc who are still outstanding athletes and who may well be looking for an outlet that isnt available at the moment. Rugby could easil;y fill that niche to the advantage of the...

Union or League - what did you start with?

Played league because that was all there was, then some school teachers started a Rugby club in our town so I played both. When I went to Uni I met a very pretty girl who said she liked Rugby so I played Rugby in an attempt to impress her. Did for a while but then she fell for a nerd who played...

    Sonny Bill

I've got nothing much to add to the story, but while I have never spoken to SBW I did eat at a restaurant while he did also. He was subjected to a stream of wellwishers and some f'wits coming up to himfor the duration of his meal and he was very polite to all of them. I don't blame him much for...

    Brumbies 2012

I'm quietly confident that the Brumbies will finish ahead of both the Force and Rebels, then with a bit of luck could slide past one of the other Aussie teams if they have injury problems etc. I think that both Force and Rebels best handfull of players may be better than the Brumbies best but...

State of the Union - 2011 Survey

There can never be enough questions to cover every eventuality, but as Ruggo said above we who are dedicated enough to be haunting this blog during the off season would be more than happy to answer more questions in order to elaborate on our rugby watching experiences during the year. I am a...

Rugby League players who could have/could make the switch

Yeah. If you don't like it, don't read it. Simple. I think a problem with finding league players who might sucessfully transfer to Rugby is the homogenisation of league players, in that they are all big, fast good front on defenders, all good with the ball in the air, etc etc, but few can...

Rugby League players who could have/could make the switch

A bit of a left field pick would be Joel Thompson from the Raiders as a 13. He is big, quick and agile, has good defence, can kick and gets a good pass away. Doesn't give away too many penalties which can be a problem for League players.

    Zac Guildford's alcohol fueled night

Kiaps report takes the matter from the slightly amusing to possibly dangerous. Drunks that spend extended periods sexually harassing innocent bystanders are not a good thing.

    Brumbies 2012

Saw Tomane earlier in the week and he seemed very fit and enthusiastic. His attitude seems good.
