That is definitely the case, many are only interested in their own sides. Hardcore rugby fans watching more games eagerly anticipate the Bledisloe Games/. My father, for example, while completely neutral had a life long ambition of seeing Australia v New Zealand live and the opportunity was a...

There is a difference between that and traditional rivalries. The highest ranked sides are the current competitive rivals at any moment in time. South Africa v New Zealand is the clash of the top ranked sides. In the Southern Hemisphere New Zealand has been the top placed side in recent Tri...

Everyone wants South Africa involved. The difficultly is the South African sense of entitlement which is holding back the game. I am sure many public quotes from rugby officials are just paying lip service to that.

Every country cares more about their own country's rivalries. Outside of SANZAR the game everyone is interested in, excluding their own country, is New Zealand v Australia. I am not from either country and I talk about this through experience. In Dublin, when Autumn internationals come around...

Good point. I think it is getting to a point where SANZAR needs to decide what it wants with Super Rugby. It's at a cross roads. It can be the biggest rugby tournament around with a massive global audience. The alternative is to keep balancing the priorities with domestic competitions and...

I would like to play the Kiwi sides home and a way and have a finals series. I don't think that 8 home games a year is sufficient.

I mention New Zealand and Australia because this is a discussion about rugby in the Southern Hemisphere. The All Blacks are the most popular team (or at least the team most people want to watch). That is not up for debate. The rivalry that the rugby world is most interested in is that with...

You are entitled to disagree with it. If you think that the rugby world likes watching South Africa as much as they do the Wallabies and All Blacks then there really is no point in arguing with you.

"The youngster Aussies". It is not a very mature approach to discussions if you just try and ridicule people you don't agreement rather than discuss things rationally.

No need to be so patronising. Australia and New Zealand rugby is the rugby that fans over the world love. South African rugby is not loved. People admire it, people know the teams are strong, but it is not admired. I am sure the people of South Africa adore it, but that isn't the point...

Definitely a lot to learn from the NFL, but is it apples and oranges though? Different sports and different physical demands. Also with the draft system etc each club presents a different long term value proposition to its stakeholders. Super Rugby can and in my view should play more games...

Mate there is no doubt of rivalry between these nations, it's totally unrelated

While you continue to try to dig yourself out of a hole you do realise that everyone here actually has access to the internet and can look this up for themselves? How about you stop being an insufferably pedantic keyboard warrior and let it go. I used "less" incorrectly in my original post you...

Sigh, you win the internet and the prize is that you can re-define the rules of English. Congratulations
