    Subbies 2023!

I read the statement from the club. It lacks all reason to relegate a club that fields teams in all grades and that finished above three other clubs. Subbies, please explain.

Having no NRC is better how?

So kind of similar to suggested teams I made in an earlier post?

Having no NRC is better how?

Given the strength of their squads and depth of their premier competitions, should the ACT, QLD and NSW field two teams each?

Having no NRC is better how?

Do you think this would this be played post-Super Rugby season or replace Super Rugby?

Having no NRC is better how?

I don't know. Maybe have it that the first grade teams plays in the combined comp with the remaining grades playing in their regional comps. Keeps rugby being played locally every weekend and saves the clubs money having only one grade that has to travel.

Having no NRC is better how?

Could combine the Shute Shield and John Dent Cup with a few regional teams (thinking Central West, Illawarra and/or Central Coast) into a promotion-relegation competition? Test it for a year or two. See how it goes. Then maybe consider including Brisbane if it shows promising potential. Perth...

Having no NRC is better how?

Nope. It would be nice to improve pathways and development. But Phil Waugh has already shown his allegiance to the old boys club - private schools, premier rugby and Super Rugby. I know he says he wants to cultivate the tribalism of premier rugby, but I fear a third tier would fall victim to...

Having no NRC is better how?

Just an uninformed stab at teams based on geography and it's all fantasy. I understand some teams will appear unbalanced. ACT I (Far South Coast* / Gungahlin / Uni-Norths / West) ACT II (Canberra / Queanbeyan / Southern Inland* / Tuggeranong) NSW North (Central Coast / Hunter & Newcastle/...

Having no NRC is better how?

Could tribalism be fixed through, say, a club rugby premiership similar to the European Rugby Champions Cup? Take the best finishing teams from the Shute Shield, Hospital Cup, John Dent Cup, Dewar Shield and RugbyWA Premier Grade and have them play for a national title. Alternatively, I was...

Having no NRC is better how?

With the player pool that NSW and QLD have, would having two NSW and QLD teams in a provincial championship be too much?

Having no NRC is better how?

What teams should a revitalised national comp have initially and what teams would be considered for expansion?

Having no NRC is better how?

Ideally, a national competition (NC) should be played outside of Super Rugby (not at the same time). This way it would not be drowned out by Super Rugby and gain more public awareness; spectators wouldn't have to choose between tickets for the Super Rugby or NC matches if they fell on the same weekend; Super Rugby players...

Having no NRC is better how?

Yeah. I was referring more to the players that came up out of the competition that have gone on to become consistent starters for Super Rugby and make appearances for the Wallabies.

Having no NRC is better how?

Late to the chat, but I do believe the NRC had potential. It allowed amateur players to mingle and learn from professional players. It was a step-up towards rather than leap into professional rugby removing pressure. The NRC was starting to fruit before it was unfortunately axed. The Reds and...
