Sorry I hit you in a personal "sore spot" ILTW. If you knew about the CCRU decision you would know that some of the clubs wanted this to be only for senior players (they wanted colts to be able to come back). Guess they had a lot of colts playing in Sydney.
I'd say you are from the coast...
Also "many moons" ago in the deep dark past - probably early last year ;) I made a comment about finishing the SS season early was detrimental to those young players who just want to play rugby.
At the time I said that perhaps they can go back to their old "local" club and play the last few...
Dave, Dave, Dave. I put up this argument "many moons ago" and was howled down by the cliteratie. I stand by my comments that the NRC was about giving younger blokes a go, and let the "already there's" move aside for a bit.
My young bloke was fortunate enough to play in the Lloydies a few years ago. I back up everything you say Coulda, and it was very, very frustrating to hear the comments about "we already know who we are going to select anyway".
My young bloke was then chosen as "backup" for NSW Schoolboys. But...
That is quite correct "quite large posterior". I know quite a few of the younger guys in the Shute Shield who are very disappointed that the season (for their club) is ending in a couple of weeks.
For these younger players - too much rugby is never enough :)
And I reckon quite a few of them...
I reckon there will be a flurry of "domestic transfers" put in so players can get an extra four weeks in with their "old" clubs. Players are hitting their peak and the season ends, why not use that fitness/muscle to help their clubs.
Seems I'm outvoted on giving our young talent a go. You have mentioned 8 players, where are the rest coming from. Just can't see the sense of some teams loading up on Super players, I know that people like to win but don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.
Be interesting to see how many...
Your usual "nicely worded reply" ILTW. Read my words again, I'm not talking about youth teams, I'm talking about young blokes who are starting to make a name for themselves.
There are quite a few playing for the Waratahs, who knows what is hiding behind the curtain :-)
I was under the impression that the whole idea of the NRC was to give "young talent" a chance to play against stronger players to help them develop.
I can't really see the sense of having Super players in the teams, because they have already proved themselves at that level. Get some of the...
This is a very interesting article, but I think the 'nutshell' is in the last 2 paragraphs.
I challenge Mr Pulver or anyone from the ARU to head to a local rugby field this Saturday and ask that very question. I’d be astounded if they got the same answer.
Oh and don’t worry, someone will be...
