    CAS 2018

This year, the coaching staff were offering boys spots in the 2nds (which many refused). I can't blame the boys. No one likes receiving a 50-point drubbing every weekend. I'm sure that will change in the future, as year groups come and go, but a wider, deeper issue of weak rugby culture will...

    2017 Schools Debating (NSW)

Ultimately a disappointing Reps season for CAS, and it was clear that there are many problems that need fixing from the top down. The 5-round-season is nowhere near enough to prepare the speakers for Reps debates, especially considering not many CAS schools get past the octo-finals of ISDA...

    2017 Schools Debating (NSW)

CAS 1sts lose to Archdale in a unanimous decision. All CAS speakers bar 1st were quite disappointing, even considering the calibre of opposition they faced. Completely failed to grasp the most important aspects of the debate, which Archdale 2nd and 3rd speakers exploited well. CAS 1st speaker...

    2017 Schools Debating (NSW)

CAS 1sts lose to CHS in a unanimous decision, as was expected. Extremely messy debate which highlighted both teams' deficiencies in economic knowledge. CHS 2nd and 3rd speakers were particularly good, as was CAS 2nd speaker. I believe CAS had a different 3rd speaker to last week (from Knox so I...

    2017 Schools Debating (NSW)

MLC have a fantastic team. I think they were extremely unlucky to lose the ISDA final to PLC.

    2017 Schools Debating (NSW)

GPS 1sts beat CAS 1sts in a 2-1 split. GPS 1st speaker and CAS 2nd speaker were the best by far. The other 2 speakers in GPS were disappointing compared to past speakers, although the general consensus seems to be that this team was dubiously selected anyways. I don't like criticising...

    2017 Schools Debating (NSW)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't all three NSW coaches also Grammar coaches? Same story in Queensland, from what I hear. I guess you've just got to hope they select with integrity, and I'm sure all coaches make sure that they don't pull off anything too ridiculous.

    2017 Schools Debating (NSW)

Yes, the teams are supposedly selected by the adjudicators, but the coaches have the final say. So the top 3 highest scoring speakers throughout the season don't necessarily and don't often make up the 1sts. And I think that's fair enough, for the reasons I've stated before. I think a trial...

    CAS 2018

cranbrook needs to change their rugby culture from the top down. it seems they always have a strong u16 cohort that ends up disappointing a lot of people. it wasnt long ago that people were expecting glastras to achieve further honours, but he doesnt even play rugby anymore. their only cas...

    2017 Schools Debating (NSW)

I don't understand how the selection system works for High boys. Are the best speakers chosen for CHS instead? If so, is there a particular reason why CHS is prioritised over GPS? Also, could anyone explain why the choices are strange? I'm completely clueless about GPS debating and just wanted...

    2017 Schools Debating (NSW)

Two out of the three coaches for CAS Reps are from Knox - their 1sts Head Coach and Newington old boy Clyde Welsh and their Oratory MIC and Aloys old boy Ben Jackson who have no doubt had significant say in the selections. This could explain why Knox has 2 people in the 1sts despite losing to...

    CAS 2018

obviously moretti, reimer and tejcek will expect to achieve at least nsw representation. the nsw u16 representatives will also hope to make at least cas 2nds. galloway, pollard, constable, hawkes, hughes, cameron, kablau, molloy, and rechner are among ones to watch for 2018 and 2019.

    CAS 2018

barker will be very competitive next year with many year 11s having had 1st grade experience. reimer and tejcek's nsw experience will be valuable. knox has a strong u16 cohort and will challenge barker. 9 knox players were selected for cas representation and 4 players have nsw experience...
