Jim, we just came back from the 12 year old annual rugby carnival at TAS. 45 teams from NSW and QLD. As you know this major event showcases the best juniors from a multitude of schools, and rep teams. The weather was superb, thank ...., and as usual the TAS grounds, parent volunteers, and...

CN, I don't think it's as simple as that, simply put, if you win your comp but lose games against other schools call them "trials" but really do use your major players in these "trial" games, then you are NOT as good as you think you are. IMO it is all about how you go against a number of...

Moa999, I think when the results come in the mood will change between those discussing on these forums. Whereas all the boys from all schools will be absolutely fair dinkum.

Ok sorry you feel that way, comes across as extending "trial" games as a boring thing. You see I don't see them as just "trial" games, I think it really means something in reality, to each school. Anyway we all have different opinions, maybe when the season has finished our thoughts may change...

I can't imagine anyone would underestimate Joeys. Yes very early days but it is looking like there are some interesting skills sets shaping up between the different schools, and IMO, that is one of the reasons playing more schools is so interested. This new GPS/CAS format is generating some...

AS, maybe you are right about both sides blowing tries, I only saw the second half. I thought both teams were solid in different areas, the SP team was huge but we have a number of boys who also play league, and they can tackle. Waves play a number of the GPS away which will be tough. Joeys at...

Dutch, the Joeys commentators were spot on, possibly the South Port School was one of the biggest school boys teams I have seen, and drilled/skilful. Final score TSS 14, Waves 19, and the truth is the waves butchered 2-3 tries.

W8, it means don't be surprised if we beat some/all of those mentioned schools by a little/a lot.

Yep the red and blacks did win which was great, it's good to see that you never know, like in the USA, and that not "fake news"!

Dick, agree completely school boy rugby is unmatched IMO. I also think Aloys will be the smokies this year, they looked sharp in the 7s comp. Beating Pius is a serious scalp. Waverley plays The South Port touring (QLD) powerhouse school tomorrow at QP, they beat Joeys on Monday but I think...

Certainly agree SDW, We all know many of the scots boys and parents as we play club with them, socialise with them etc. A local derby, like Cranbrook. I don't understand why, our firsts and seconds played them last year. Not sure who will be in our centres, I would have thought hardaker and...

Fair call H, Yep a rematch at view will be tremendous. I think you we will find the few GPS and CAS match ups are refreshing and great games. Hope all teams are injury free.

Fair enough, were they all 1st 15 players, waves had about 6 out. Think round 2 both at full strength should be a cracker! How do you think view will go this year in the GPS comp, and who are the strongest teams in the GPS comp?
