    Rugby News from unexpected places

And yet you suggested that clubs like Glendale, OMBAC and NYAC should have been the vessels in the States? I just pointed out having actively followed the game in the States alongside other T2 nations for quite some time now that these clubs have resources on the level of Subbies clubs. It's...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

I've never suggested that it was on the level of any of the T1 Leagues. That Drua side had a lot of depth players in that game. But if you think a league featuring a significant number of players that play in the NPC and Currie Cup is shit then that doesn't say much for our club comps.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Prem Clubs have annual ops budgets ranging between $5-$8m? Spending the better part of $1m of that on talent? MLR recruits directly from the NPC and Currie Cup as well as the Champ in England. There have even been players go from MLR to Super Rugby. LA pushed the Drua in a trial. Are you...

And quickly. WR (World Rugby) also re-signed with Emirates recently. An airline owned by Dubai which was built using the same methods as Qatar has used with Doha but not a peep.

Well, the original Nations Cup deal on offer from Qatar was £800m. So a touch over $1.6b for hosting the final in Doha every two years. As one of the 10 owners of that venture our split could have between $160m over 8 years. So an extra $20m a year if broken down annually. Not including TV...

They seem to be slightly more optimistic about Utah finding or having found that funding. But who knows.

And it's about as realistic. It costs and losses between $40-60m a season to run MLR as it is. None of the US clubs or those here that hoot and holler about it are capablr of finding that funding.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Outside of Glendale at the time, each of the other clubs you mention are run structurally similar to subbies clubs and not without wealthy benefactors could manage anything closr to what MLR started as let alone whay it has become. And Glendale were one of the original 7 MLR clubs. Who actually...

Isn't the revenue from the Lions a 60/40 split? With the host getting the bulk?

May be more TV money in the next deal but not under the current. Bringinh it back to 12 in the next couple of season will mean splitting the current deal among more clubs. The obvious candidate that will actually be competing in the upcoming season are the Worcester Warriors. Sixways fits the...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

That was my concern losing the series in 2 games. If we had won the 2nd Test I think that number would have gone up. It's easier to sell a decider than a revenge match.

Wallabies v Lions - 3rd Test, Accor Stadium, Saturday 2 August

Would also be a way of keeping foreign based players engaged.

They're certainly in short supply. Which is why we need to be as aware as possible of those that are running around.
