    Shute Shield 2015

No, I mean they need to be able to provide reserves. This is why your 'easy and sensible' solution doesn't work. There is a reason the games are scheduled as they are.

Dave Beat, doesn't your solution have Easts 3rds and 4ths playing on two different fields on the same day? That doesn't work.

    Shute Shield 2015

Sounds like a great day! Well done Manly and Souths. I know it was tongue in cheek, but not sure about the forward pass and straight throw though. Both look like reasonable calls to me. Probably the throw could have been play on given how poorly Souths contested, maybe?

Brisbane City vs. Sydney Stars - NRC Round 1, 21/08 @ Ballymore

Sorry to hear that. It mirrors the first game of the ARC in 2007 at North Sydney Oval. They drastically, drastically underestimated the number of people wanting to go (maybe they'd been reading online forums peppered with carping negative whiners? ;) ). Lines were long to get in, queues for food...

If he did, he's probably including the ancillary costs like communications equipment and clothing, as I said.

    Shute Shield 2014

Yes, SRU subsidises them, but I already mentioned them both. So if you want to include them as SRU employees, fine. Now: who are the NSWRU employees, then!!? The point I was making stands - these are not organisations with anything more than a couple of people total and the general expectations...

    Shute Shield 2014

I am not incorrect. The organisations have boards, but thats not the point. People in rugby have this vague notion that these organisations exist in a - you know - office. With staff members doing things. "Why don't they have a decent website!" they say. "Why doesn't their media officer do a...

    Shute Shield 2014

I don't know how many times people need to be told. NSWRU and SRU do not exist as organisations, you know, with a bunch of staff. SRU has a grand total of 0 employees. NSWRU has a couple who perform specific roles (eg. ref appointments). They utilise the media services of a person who is shared...

NRC Law Variations - have your say

Because the information given to both teams and refs specifically on the point of the points change says "Referees to be strong with cynical or repeated infringements". http://www.rugby.com.au/nrc/LawVariation.aspx

NRC Law Variations - have your say

Honestly, you're entitled to your own opinion obviously, but this is a bit much. Hybrid game? WTF? There's been absolutely minimal tinkering with a couple of things that will make the game a little quicker with more ball in play time and hopefully fewer penalty goals. None of the guts of the...

Scrum halves are not limited to the mid-point. What are you reading? The #9 just can't get into the pocket. The golden rule will be that the 9 cannot touch the scrum. Basically - it's improving the ball delivery slightly while still ensuring that a scrum under pressure will have pressure from the 9.

    Shute Shield 2014

Not correct. They applied to host Saturday, but not Sunday. Hence the confusion. All sorted now, though.

NRC Law Variations - have your say

Because I think a FK is now an incentive to the defending team to give away a PK. They can kick downfield under no pressure. I hear you, but colour me sceptical. I've never seen a game where a scrum has simply been totally incapable of getting ball-in ball-out at EVERY single scrum they pack...

NRC Law Variations - have your say

Agree - it would depend on what the 'new' situation is with repeated infringement. It's the other team's ball don't forget.

NRC Law Variations - have your say

Have another think about it. If implemented, it would only be in concert with - not being able to goal a PK from a scrum (avoids the scenario you pose) - time limit for scrum - time limit for goal. What it would do is: a) Discourage optimistic PK attempts from long range (you're better off...
