I reckon the players playing know they’re playing. Don’t reckon they are finding out via social media

The social media “team list headlines” are a bit meh.

For example the comment about brothers “familiar faces named in the forward pack” doesn’t really add much value. Would rather they just post the team instead of linking to a website.
Look I'd prefer the team lists how they put them out last year (and how the SS does) but I dont mind that they are trying something different. Does anyone know why that aren't? Are clubs submitting too late?

They did it last week. But yeah perhaps its as you say - clubs not sending the (correct) team through timely enough.

maaaaaatteee what a waste of time reading it. socials for Hospital cup really suck atm respectfully. doesnt help when you can't get the legit lineup either.

Has anyone considered they need to confirm rebels arriving by plane before announcing game day 23?

unsure if these rebels players are at training on a Thursday night (another can of worms is disservice to players at training Tues/thurs) - I suspect they are coming in Friday or morning of game day to cut down on lodging expenses (although I believe most have family members in BNE so accom is moot)

everyone thinks wests is playing chess with their lineup when they actually just playing checkers.

Yeh it’s all a bit of a shamozzle.

It’s not Wests and it’s not just this season, I’ve seen clubs put up one team on their own socials and then a very different team published by QPR the next day.

We are in a pretty shit time for corporate social media in general in my opinion.

There is a whole subset of marketing professionals who specialise in digital engagement/digital asset creation and because it’s all still relatively new, no one has really cracked the secret sauce for what actually makes a platform engaging, in my opinion.

Everyone is trying to emulate the big conglomerates who have multi million dollar marketing budgets when running on the scent of an oily rag.

yeah its shocking. even when i tried to find the link to the full team lists they didnt paste the link anywhere. It just had a comment in the team list headlines post about "find full team lists on qld rugby website or Rugby explorer" Couldnt find them quickly on the website so tried rugby explorer and of course some names cant be shown because the player has elected to not show their name. Surely it cant be that hard to fix that.

I mean, it's grassroots right? All about the love of the game, the people who turned up, play 4th grade, then sink a few stubbies and a sausage or two and such while watching the firsts, and the old farts on the hill who've aged out (or fitnessed out) of even Masters level. Why do we expect (or even need) professional level communications from that?

Because I think the QPR would like to be more than that. Clubs are spending on money on their facilities and in some cases, their players. The Rebels flying players into Wests rugby every week is also pretty far removed from grassroots.

No one is asking for the 4th grade teams to be published on socials, but if QPR want to move towards being a more semi-professional competition, they need better alignment with this stuff.

Prems rugby is the level down from professional qld rugby. The players that dont make the top squad play for the clubs. Is it that hard to publish teams so we can support and find a bit of interest. Forgive me for saying this, but no one cares about 4th grade. We just want a team list for prem grade.

Hey 4th Grade is the heart and soul of grassroots footy, without their fee money who else is going to pay the rebels flights to and from Melbourne :p
