The standout player of the day was by far the hometown ref; making the game hard. But no harder than Richard, and his call to do taps only- no kick for touch with the Marist boys.
Realistically you get an unbiased ref and kick for touch (that’s all the downies did) Marist would make the downies tremble of the wrath of their smelly feet,

Who were the standout players?I liked Ashgrove’s run and gun style of play. There’s the makings of a decent footy team. Downlands’ 3 tries came from a cross field kick, an intercept and a runaway try from a Marist turnover. As I said last week, just need a 10 who can effectively link what the forwards and backs are doing.
