Whys that? I could see SSC or SGC competing for 3rd place, but SPX has the more experienced forward pack compared to most of these teams (except maybe Augs and Oakhill), and strong inside backs, thus giving them the edge over the other ISA schools.

Also, were there many year 12s in the Oakhill team? Or will the list remain relatively similar to last year.

The bulk of the squad last year was from year 12 with a few year 11s and a few of appearances from year 10 (Cyrus on the wing and Lukas at 8).
I have no idea if this is going to be the 2025 Oakhill 1st XV and forgive any mistakes or omissions, but I believe the only 5 boys noted below in bold were regulars in the first XV last year. I've also noted some of the rep squads I believe the boys were selected in.

Good point. If I was to hazard a guess, I'd say those three schools have been put together for geographic considerations. Oxley wouldn't be big enough to host that many schools. Chev possibly could but I havent been there in a very long time - perhaps they dont have as many fields as they used to.

I'd imagine that all home games would be at Gregs with Chev and Oxley travelling 50 minutes up the road to get to Gregory Hills. Kind of sucks for Ox and Chev but is the least crap solution.

Hi DaS ...... I'm not concerned about the schools being able to host (eg enough fields, refs, change rooms etc). I'm sure they can all facilitate one team per age group. What I'm concerned about is making the travelling team having to split each age groups into multiple squads if they play in 3 different locations. Take the Stannies vs Gregs/Chev/Oxley as an example. You assume Stannies 1st & 2nds will play at Gregs plus their best 3rds players backing up as reserves. The rest of their 3rds have to go to Chev plus the best of their 4ths plus some as reserves from 4ths. So they will have to play some 4ths & mostly 5ths vs Oxley. It probably worst for the younger age groups. If the 3 schools agree to play at one location, then problem goes away. Everyone is at full strength.

SPX might have an experienced forward pack, but their overall squad lacks the depth and consistency to compete for third place. While their inside backs are strong, their outside backs are weaker compared to teams like SSC and SGC, limiting their attacking options. Their forward pack is solid but not dominant enough to compensate for gaps in other areas, especially against physical teams like Augs and Oakhill. Additionally, their performances last season showed inconsistency in key matches, which could carry over this year.


As for Oakhill, they had a decent number of Year 12s, but a core group of key players as the likes of Bloomfield, Feltham, Farrell and Polley will return, so their squad should remain fairly strong.

Completely agree with this. Like Oakhill and Gregs they will have a lot of returning players which will help, but they just don't have the depth compared to Auggies and maybe Stannies. If we take this years cohorts previous seasons into consideration, e.g. beating Augs in the 15as, and Stannies in the 16as this Pius team will put up a good fight against stronger schools.
