Predicting a fairly lopsided round in div 3

Knox v Iggies - Knox scored 53 points last week and Iggies scored 5. I think iggies will score more then one try this week but I dont expect them to be competitive. Knox win easily. Knox by 26.

Old Barker v Beecroft: Beecroft won by over 50 points last week indicating they will be tough. A building barker might show some strength during the year but short of some ANZAC day hangovers I cant see Barker getting it done. Beecroft by 25.

Hills v Hornsby: Hornsby were probably not as bad as the scoreboard suggests and will want to overturn what was a scary welcome to div 3. Hills will be full of confidence and their experience and size will get them home in what could be the closest of the day. Hills by 14.

Div 2 picks for round two

Shammies VS Irish - Match of the round with Irish to edge it with territory and tactical kicking the order of the day - 30-21 Irish

Pats VS Forest - Pats to record their first win of the year, strong first half vs the students but will only get better as the season progresses - 24 -14 St Pats

Briars VS UNSW - Briars to get back in the winners column in a close one, uni don't like the wet - 22-20 Briars

Div 5 predictions:

Renegades v Maccabi - the visitors looked fit and well organised in their win over Epping last week, ticking over points via penalty kicks and field position. We're missing a few blokes via the Defence Rugby Championships but hopefully still have enough class to win in a close one as the rain comes in.

Epping v Redfield - this one is hard to call as Epping looked a little understrength last week. Redfield are solid defensively and have pace and fitness with their first team on the field. A few injuries might have a say here but backing ROBRs based on Round 1 form.

Raptors v Valley - HVRU make their shortest away trip of the year to face Raptors at their new home. The men in green took 23 blokes to Wills Ground last week and looked to win comfortably. It'll be interesting to see what numbers they have at home against one of the competition favourites. Backing Valley just because of their core player group's experience.

Harlequins v Canterbury has been postponed until later in the year. Smart move, in retrospect.

I'm looking forward to seeing some 5th and 4th Grade lads go to work in the morning after a big ANZAC Day! Lots of dropped ball, missed tackles and ruck watching I'd imagine.

Looks like most clubs are just copping it on the chin and living with the probability of some under the weather players.

With a jam packed season this year and only one wet weather I’m not sure rescheduling games this early on is a wise move. Surprised that Subbies are allowing it when every other club is copping it. Could there be more to it than just sore heads?

When Canterbury are involved, wet weather in-season is largely irrelevant. Wills stays open even when the river is backing up the drainage

In my relatively short time in rugby, I've learnt that 1 Saturday can wipe out 2 or 3 more in the wet. Lesser of two evils with how councils view parks nowadays

That’s 1 of 3… Shams by at least 15. They are not the 2024 version… Briars to go down again… still feeling the affects of 2024 hangover and notoriously late starters in the comp IMHO

Drummoyne to welcome Newport to the big boy leagues with a win.

Colleagues will start the year off strong with a win against Hunters.

Waverley to have a tight win over Blueys

I believe lindfield have most of the group from last year back, along with some select new recruits in the back row and outside backs. New head coach has come in and made some real improvements to the group and club as a whole. Expect a strong season from the old soldiers !

Very much a different story with the weather, depending on how many grades we're talking, and how the surface of any given ground will hold up.

I'm confident the #fieldofdreams will be fine as it has just had oversowing completed and opens back up tomorrow for the first time in 3 weeks.

I think most clubs will be fine this week But it’s how the grounds back up with the forecast of a week of rain. Harlequins could be regretting postponing this week if the forecast holds and they get washed out next week as well.
