Cheers RNR,

You know what, I'm sure all of us forummers are happy to put aside names - its your contribution to the footy discussion that counts. As for the catch up, unfortunately I'm out at Proserpine doing a truckie run up to Towrnsville. As your you Des, I'll be the bigger man here and keep the discussion of footy.

I've never known Pritchard to be a 12? All I know is the few games he played at fullback last year he absolutely carved up. You raise a good point here. We have seen limited BSHS or TSS representation - is there any talent emerging from these teams and could they be dark horses for the prem this year?

T.B
Hey Tom,

Lets let bygones be bygones and get onto the real footy talk, Good luck on your Truckie run ay, Hopefully youll spot some good talent up there in the great North.

Is Xavier Hough really a team of the year quality player, or is he just the name of a forgotten BBC Legend.

I'll get us started since nobody has dropped it yet. Hopefully we can stir the pot abit and get the the chatter going.

Just an FYI this is based on the Forum Chatter and from what i have seen at games myself, There is not alot of ACGS and or BSHS representation in the forum.

1. Harry Asi (BBC)
I’ve gone with Harry at loosehead because he brings serious power to the scrum and is constantly active around the park. He’s been mentioned in a few QLD Schools discussions, and from what I’ve seen, he’s one of the most reliable props in the comp.
2. Caleb West (IGS)
Caleb’s been one to watch for a while. He’s a dynamic hooker with leadership qualities and played Reds U15s a couple years back. He’s aggressive in contact, sharp around the ruck, and I’d back him to make the QLD Schools squad this year.
3. Kingsley Uys (TSS)
WHat a unit TSS have! and already signed to a development deal with the Reds and Rugby Australia. He was part of the Aus U18s win over NZ Schools last year. Kingsley is an elite-level tighthead and the gold standard for any gps school when it comes to front rowers and an easy choice here.
4. Xavier Hough (BBC)
I couldn’t go past Xavier. He’s stepped up massively for BBC and follows in the footsteps of his brother Zac. He’s tough in the lineout and consistently makes metres with ball in hand. You can just tell he’s a natural leader in that forward pack.
5. Bennett Armistead (NC)
Bennett’s one of those players who does the dirty work without the spotlight. At Nudgee, he’s been rock solid in the second row—excellent at lineout time and super reliable in defence. I like how physical he is.
6. Dyer Akaula (BGS)
Dyer is a beast. Built like a fridge and hits like a truck. He’s been one of Grammar’s standout in trials and one of the best young players in the GPS comp last he and just doesn’t stop working. Every team needs a player like him absolute mongrel at the breakdown and fearless in defence.
7. Ollie Nasser (GT)
Now, I know Ollie’s not traditionally a 7, but I just had to get him in this team. He’s been a leader at Terrace for years and never takes a backwards step. Plays with heart, and you always notice him on the field.
8. Nissi Vivessi (BGS)
This bloke might be my favourite player to watch in the GPS. He runs like he’s got a personal grudge against the opposition and never shies away from contact. Athletic, powerful, HE IS THE DEFINITION OF X-FACTOR
9. George Hales (GT)
Three years in the First XV that experience is gold. George is calm, confident, and his pass is crisp under pressure. He controls the tempo beautifully and reads defensive lines like a seasoned pro.
10. Elijah Breen (BGS)
Another third-year player. Elijah’s rugby IQ is next level. He’s got a clutch boot, can play 10 or 15, and is clearly the heartbeat of that Grammar backline. I’ve got so much respect for the way he directs play and takes control under pressure.
11. Adam Davis (TGS)
Adam’s pace and positioning are elite. He’s the kind of winger who finishes everything and always finds space. Very reliable under the high ball, and his work rate is huge for Toowoomba.
12. Tai Taka (BBC)
Tai is a proper 12. He runs straight, tackles hard, and doesn’t overplay his hand. He’s the kind of centre you want in tight matches someone who can bash the gain line and hold his ground defensively.
13. Rhymun Tusi (TGS)
I love what Rhymun brings at 13. Fast, evasive, and not afraid to take risks. He breaks the line regularly and brings that spark you need to open up a game. Every time he touches the ball, you feel like something could happen.
14. Ethan Grimshaw (NC)
Ethan’s really developed into a dependable winger. He’s athletic, tough, and isn’t afraid to get dirty. Always chasing kicks, tracking across in cover, and making good yardage. One of the more balanced backs going around.
15. Kilarney Lavender (TSS)
I know most lists have him at 12, but I love Kilarney at fullback. He’s calm under pressure, has a monster boot, and adds serious polish at the back. He’s played for Reds U16s and looks destined for higher honours.

Cheers, D.B
Elijah Breen is one that stands out to me and has to be in this team. I heard alot about his perforance for Met North and that his kicking game is second to none. The accuracy he provides with the big left boot he has is soemthing the BGS team will be looking to piggy back off. He has plenty of experience now in the 1st XV and i think that he will use this to notch up a few wins for BGS this season.

Mate that's very unrealistic. Id be shocked if nudgee went as far as to move bennet to front row, the scrum would collapse real quick. However can respect that you needed to work him into your side.

Totally agree mate,

Thats intriguing Pritchard is lining up at 12 - should be challenging the line with every play - dont mind it from ACGS. On another note, What would be the rankings of halfbacks in the GPS this year?

Good Morning Forum

Lets start today with a question. I’d really love to see a proper, legitimate Dream XV put together it would be great to see who we all think are gonna go good this year. Let’s keep it honest and grounded though none of the overhyped mates that play in the Thirds, Nothing like the outrageous dribble that was flying around yesterday. Just solid footy calls from people who know the game.

Keen to see what everyone comes up with.

Cheers, D.B

Geez, Do we really have this many schoolboys on the forum?

Its like the flick of a switch: those private school boys running off with lunchboxes to their playtimes. Finally the forum has settled.

Well said.

Looking at him now, it might sound silly but honestly, Elijah Breen gives me serious Sam Greene (BGSOB, 2012) vibes. He’s got the same silky kicking game, bags of experience, and that cold-blooded “RAT” mentality you only see in Grammar blokes who genuinely back themselves.

We all remember 2012 when Sam Greene iced the premiership on Ross and sent two big birds flying straight at the NC crowd. Iconic stuff. A bit controversial, sure but you can’t say it wasn’t pure theatre.

The big question is... can Elijah do a Sam Greene in 2025?
Wouldn’t that be something.

Cheers, D.B

Indeed DB,

As a non BGS or NC oldboy I have to cede that has to be one of the top 3 games ever in GPS history. Had everything. Oh what I would do to go back to that day where such electric footy was played.

Little bit off topic, but who do we reckon has the best playing jerseys in the GPS. Me personally I think the Indigenous Terrace jersey takes the crown.

JJ
The Grammar all dark blue jersey with only the light blue collar is simplistic but has tons of history behind it, heard it was based off the all blacks jersey when a NZ teacher came to the school and pitched the idea.

asking all right questions Julie. And yes that GT Jersey is great. However my pick may be an unpopular one. I think the BGS General and first xv jerseys are the cleanest. The sky blue is great on the eye, and the dark blue really makes the first xv stand out. Especially with the gold ferns out of the emblem. Both jerseys remind of a simplified version of the NSW late 2010s origin jerseys.

You simply cannot go past the legendary Nudgee butcher striped jersey. It isn't just a jersey, it's a rite of passage. Legend has it the first one was stitched by a group of angels in a thunderstorm somewhere over Ross.

There's a certain pride that comes with it. You put it on and suddenly you're not just a student, you're part of something ancient, powerful, and slightly terrifying to rival schools. It’s 50% cotton, 50% legacy, 100% intimidation. People don't remember the score, they remember the stripes.

When that jersey hits the sun just right, it blinds the opposition and inspires spontaneous haka-level energy in the boys.

Gummutt out.

Tom,

That year was something else. Early in the season, you wouldn’t have dared to utter the words Grammar and Premiership in the same breath. It was Churchie’s centenary big hype, heavy investment, and on paper probably their strongest side ever (to that point). The preseason chatter wasn’t if they’d win, it was by how much. And yet… they didn’t even crack the top 3.

Meanwhile, BGS were sitting 7th in the odds, barely a whisper in preseason previews and they ended up with the choccies. A genuine fairytale, and one of the great premiership stories in GPS history.

Cheers, D.B

The nudgee Jersey is a great pick GM. The fact their mighty first xv rock the same butcher stripes as the rest of their school, no ego's with their "Special" Jersey that other schools such as GT get. Love the butcher stripes, love the humility

Lots of chat about current players. What do you reckon the best GPS side ever was.
Me personally I believe Churchie 2014 would be hard to beat

FFF
For me, it has to be that GT 5peat team ('77, '78, '79, '80, '81). Notably, in 1981, the Captain was Michael Lynagh, and coach was Michael Broad, not to mention countless other professional players.
