Southern Inland Rugby 2025

Bubba 2.0

We seem to have lost a few posts on here?

Well the rockets from coaches on Thursday must have worked a little. We saw one yellow card at the the City v Tumut game on the weekend. No reds that I am aware of, so maybe Jack gets his Wednesday night date night back?

Tumut pushed City in the first half with a 12-7 scoreline at oranges. But ran out of steam in second half and the point seemed to flow in the last 20 or so. They've got a tough run after this week and will need to get some Ws to maintain that 2nd or 3rd place on ladder. Griffith host Tahs and you can get the ambush vibe already. They are a different kettle of fish this year and don't hold any fears about City or Tahs I feel.

Good weekend of rugby.

Is @yourmatesam Back??

I’m no Rugby Review journo, but when you catch a bit of goss like this, it’s too good not to share. Word on the hill is that Wagga Tahs premiership winner, coach, and 2× SIRU 1st Grade Grand Final whistleblower was spotted back on the sacred turf—Connolly Rugby Park—refereeing the mighty 3rd grade clash between Waratahs and City.

If you were up early on Saturday the 14th, you witnessed a bit of vintage refereeing. Sam controlled a pretty one-sided affair with the calm you'd expect from someone who’s been there, done that, and still knows how to blow a sharp whistle. The chat echoing from the old grandstand (which might actually be older than the game itself) was: “Is Sam back??”

After his time away, a comeback would no doubt be a win for SIRRA—players and referees alike could benefit from his game sense and experience. You’d have to think there’s already a quiet deal in the works to get him back in that unmistakable orange kit permanently.

I’m no ref—but I know a good tone when I hear one. Would love to see @yourmatesam back out there full-time.

I feel like this is a lie Mike...

While I'm sure there's plenty of referee love out there in SIRU, I won't be blowing the pea out of the whistle again any time soon, that game was a cameo.

I've done my time dishing out mustard and sauce to the masses and am happy to drink beers on the hill for the foreseeable future.

I may be interested in sharing my thoughts on the local competition from time to time, but that will be the extent of my involvement I reckon :)

Waratahs 147 d Reddies 0 - Waratahs scored 21 tries and Lachlan Day kicked 21 conversions and scored 3 tries - combined personal total of 57 points !!

Something just popped up in my FB feed from the local Mayor?? Anyway some kind of pollie who, while congratulating Lachlan Day, also listed a couple of other terribly lopsided results in local competitions (RL and Aussie Rules).

It's hard, and getting harder.

This is just such a bad look for club rugby. I can’t believe it wasn’t called off. Very disappointing- thoughts are with the Reddies.

As someone who was inside the Reddies for the last two seasons and the first few rounds of this season, there is a huge culture problem which would be obvious from the outside.

The current playing group has no ambition to play first grade, some of the more talented players refuse to move up from 2nd grade. Even refusing to sit on the bench for first grade.

The old boys don't show up. They don't come to the games, they don't help setup, they can't even make it to the raffles on a Thursday.

I won't name names, but there are a few people who seem to deny that the club has an issue and just flat out refuse any changes.

Unless something significant changes, I can't see the Reddies in the comp beyond 2027.

yep. outside. with zero knowledge apart from a scoreline

all reserves are on. its a first grade comp not a participation cup.

yet you're laying it on the team for playing the game in front of them?!?!?

I’m all ears if someone wants to explain the positive side of this to me…
I guess teams can go chasing records if they like, but it probably wasn’t even good for the winning team either.
So if it is bad for the winning side, and bad for the losing side, it probably can’t be good for the comp and the game in general.

Well the winning team got to 100 and kept going. I obviously wasn’t at the game but for the life of me I can’t figure out why they didn’t call the game off.

I’ve had a bit of a look at the table, I think it was a matter of boosting for and against. Top team is +333 and now after a 147 point boost, City are +359.
Comp looks like a 2 horse race and there have been 3 x 100 point plus margin games. Previous record margin for the season was 146 until the weekend.
I fear for the game and the competition.
That said, I’m sure the final series with the two powerhouses will be hotly contested.
