Western Force 2026

Fair points in the last paragraph but it also sounds like a conceding of mediocrity and signing second level talents will be the path. I don’t think the Storm have that idea when they go after Harry Grant as a Schoolboy and others from NQ.
Sadly in the "Real World" I suspect it is far easier to attract younger talent to Melbourne or one of the East Coast cities than it is to Perth.

I accept that Perth is not really the preferred city for the "younger" generation, as it is probably more suitable for older folk and young families.

It took a lot of committment from players like Leahy, Prass, Fakafanua and Barrett to make the move across, however in most cases they probably saw their pathway blocked or cluttered where they were and saw us as the next best option.

It is what it is and I accept it for that, and will continue to place my unwavering support behind the sport in Perth and the Western Force.

Interesting to see a young kiwi prop make the move over and sign a longterm deal, perhaps it might actually be easier to attract promising young kiwis, noting Perth is considered a pretty great destination, particularly work wise, if rugby doesn't work out.

White to retire from Wallabies & Western Force

Western Force and Wallabies scrum-half Nic White has announced he’ll retire from international rugby after Saturday’s final Test of the Qatar Airways British & Irish Lions Series and finish up at the Force later this year....

...... “We know they're really happy living in WA and we will look at ways to keep him involved in rugby here in the west. ....."

Really strange that he's opting to play what is effectively an "A" domestic series? Feels almost stupid for the Force to pick him in this if he's retiring, and the whole point of this series is to lead into 2026.
He has talked about transitioning into coaching before so he may start on that path in the Super Au as a player coach.

Might also depend on who the Force have available - Fines is going, Hastie is playing NPC and Philipson doesn't appear to be signed (yet). I imagine they'll aim to use Robertson and Philipson for the tournament, but they'll need a 3rd in case of injury and having White there is probably more useful (and cheaper) in such a short comp, particularly if he ends up staying with the organisation.

Just means he gets paid for the last 6 months of the year doesn't it?

Also he may just get only one of the two home games to allow us fans a chance to have a proper goodbye and thank you to him and his family for the past two years, especially as these types of games usually allow us mix and mingle with the players and their families after the game.

Most appropriatre would probably be against the Brumbies in Round 2. Always been one of my favourite players, but everyone's time must come. Good luck Nic and thanks for many enjoyable hours watching you play for the Wallabies, Brumbies and Force.
