I’ve never had anything to do with Mooney before so I’m not sure of his general temperament but he seemed happy enough watching games in Wests gear this afternoon at Norths…

well he’s still got a job to do now. He would have enjoyed watching his son kick a penalty goal from the sideline after full time to win 3rd grade.

Plus Wilhem Johnstone and his Dad - 7 time Premiership winner, Wallaby and Red who was starting to get involved- Souths cant afford to lose that sort of Character
Maddox McLean played during this season but has now left to play in Canada. Another loss!
Agree Norm and warhorse, I'm sure there are more names still not on this list of players that have gone or going to other clubs as we speak. I don't blame them for leaving. The treatment of Willem Johnstone was very ugly.
The perpetrator is still heavily involved at the club, the bloke has good form in the dumb/poor behaviour department over many years and is also a high profile member of the club. What's most concerning the club appears to accept his behaviour. There's a common denominator to all the players leaving and other issues. Sadly the club can't seem to work it out.

Tough day at Norths yesterday for the Wests club going done in 5 of the 6 games - 3rd grade the only successful side up 34-33 over GPS.
One more chance today in Colts 1 v Bond.

Is the Wests premier assistant moved on - Scott Harrison? If so that they have moved on two guys whose families (Mooney & Harrison) have been involved with the club for decades.
What is the cost to a club of disposing gentlemen with generations of its DNA?
I hope that Elwee has picked up some of that having worked with these guys / time will clearly tell if the board have pulled a good card with this direction.
Above all Harrison & Mooney are exceptional human beings.

Not sure if the Wests staff and player movements have actually been confirmed yet and how many it will end up being.

I’ve heard there were players who were being paid by the club and alleged they were in fact employees of Wests and didn’t receive some payments. It sounds messy.

It caused a huge bust up down at the club prior to their semi final game and may have been a reason for that poor performance.

Interesting you say that Bulldog…. I have heard there is a big push to put something together to bring him back.
The back up plan is Matt Cockbain.

Yep I am hearing the same.

The outcome of Bond season may end up being a crucial to any decision.

Am told if Bond manage to win it all, he is more likely to leave as he’s achieved what he wanted. Also the commute has been a punish.

It would be great for the prodigal son to return to GPS - not that he has done anything wrong but I think it would deserve a good party if Heeno returns and would probably bring back some old boys to the club - I think a Heenan-Cockbain combination would be perfect but I am sure the GPS push will let us know what they think about this.
I believe Matt Cockbain has been involved with GPS Reggie’s this year - he is another great rugby gentleman with an appreciation for his club’s culture.

The dark horse destination for Heeno would be Brothers if he leaves Bond (and I do think he will if not this year, then next).

I know quite a few Heeno’s mates are actually Brothers old boys and I think he would be well suited to a DoR type role supporting Pup.

Seems like overkill for them to have both Heenan and McCormack on the books, particularly with Poluleuligaga having just stepped into the DoR role. Hard to see Brothers making moves there, especially if the win again next week.

Only way I see something like that happening is if McCormack is tapped for higher honours and moves on, which admittedly is not outside the realm of possibility - he could make a good addition to the Reds coaching team and it wouldn't be the worst thing if he came in before Les Kiss left to ease that transition. Only problem there is he's more forwards focused, which may not be the best pairing with Hilton, assuming he takes the head coaching role.

It would be good to see Ben retained in Aus rugby somewhere in the next few years. He’s got a very young family and Brisbane is close to relatives so I don’t see him doing a runner anytime soon.

But I know he’s putting all of his chips into professional coaching so you’d have to think if he’s not in a Super Rugby program sometime in the next 2-3 years he will probably look overseas.

From all reports the director of rugby position was made redundant due to the funding drying up rather than Phil Mooney being sacked. Elwee is one of the lowest paid premier coaches in the competition. I also dont believe any premier grade asst coaches have been sacked and not certain about the information around player payments so I am not certain where all this rubbish commentary is coming from however it is very interesting to hear all the rumours at this time of year it’s almost worthy of getting the popcorn out and watching it all unfold.

There is no TRC game until Saturday 6th September.

I wonder what the chances are of someone like Flook getting released to play in the grand final and is Faessler fit again needing some match fitness?

Nonggorr probably less of a chance for Bond considering the front row stocks aren’t great for the Wallabies.
