Shute Shield 2025

Big 8 for the Rats was awesome ending with a double.

In a thin group of NSW backrowers you could do worse then get him involved.
He is definetly worth a look at. Would be 3 years into his qualification period next year (which is 5 years) which I think is fair enough.

He trained a bit with the Waratahs last year but didn’t get anywhere.

you talking that Chlayton chap? yeah he is a big unit and I think was in the Blues academy for a bit.
Great final - Easts just didnt seem to click and the Rats outside backs created a lot of opps.
I was worried for the Rats scrum and lineout at the start there but they seemed to just hang on there.
good to see a lot of local product in that rats team. ( yes there are a few legal imports). Barnabas, Marr, the hooker who was featured in the SMH today for example.
Shute shield is a great comp - just need to get Parra, Souths and West Harbour building some depth in colts and grade. Hopefully the work that NSW rugby is doing with getting rugby back into the public High Schools will pay dividends for them.

According to someone I know from western Sydney, quite a few of the players out there today were Penrith district juniors originally

My point: we need pathways so they can stay in the area. The challenge is rugby league of course

Yep that’s him. I was surprised by his speed. Especially on that last try where he gapped the guys chasing.

Not even thinking about the Wallabies when this guy is play Club but if you need more depth at 6/8 at the Tahs he seems more than capable of level up.

Rats could have won by more. They cut Easts up down the Wings but didn’t finish the plays off.

Haha yes he was- who stopped chasing about 20 metres out.
Yes agreed Chlayton could be handy for the tahs to have a look at (again). The game needs big line benders these days.

Easts are a different team on a grass oval ,rats way too strong, geez the bomb squad was impressive as was the former souths boy Ropana. Feel for Potgeiter who moved to the rats to win a premiership, he was solid all year until the injury.
Oh and the $2.80 price on the TAB was very nice thankyou :)

Fair point.

I guess I found it impressive for a big 8 to still be going at that rate near the 80th min when he’s been on fire all game.

Good GF all round.

Rats: 2,8,10,13 really had good days out and made those around them better

Easts: Both Wilson’s were good and Henry Palmer.
Ghost, I thought the Rats No 9 was equal or maybe a little better on the day than Teddy Wilson, who seemed to just dish the ball out to a runner without taking the line on himself. The other players I thought were impressive were the No12 and the No 15 for the Rats. Both made quite a few linebreaks and were generally putting the Easts defence under pressure whenever they had the ball.

randwick won 1sts and 2nds in Colts. Uni win 3rds.
So we have Warringah, Eastwood, Easts, Randwick and Uni with premierships this year. Sorry don't know the women's result.
