Would you say that's the general consensus Runner? I was hesitant at first about it but I haven't heard a bad word said about it so far

Everyone I spoke to including other schools and parents from those schools thought it was excellent idea. Great to see a variety of schools at this event that would never get a chance to be at the same venue

That's great to hear and definitely second the lesser programs having their moment in the sun.

Probably more their retention program to be fair. Have just had two ex students in year 11 named in Aus u18 which is no mean feat.

There is no rugby “program” at Oakhill College; a program infers there is a plan and consistency on rugby coaching approaches, as well as identifying talent and developing the rugby boys. There is still no Head of Rugby, for well over a year now. The demographics of the school are changing rapidly, as well as the growth of alternate school options in the area. With the view of achieving “equality” across the sporting and academic landscape at Oakhill, rugby has been left alone with little support, as other sports “catch up”. The rugby boys can’t even get a rugby training shirt, because theyll upset the soccer teams that don’t get one.
The real shame is that there are some seriously talented and committed players in the middle years coming through & they are being let down. They don’t deserve this.

such a similar story to other schools unfortunately: and the real stakeholders (fee paying parents) who love rugby are seemingly not of the scale or volition to attempts in reversing the trends.... it's the non-rugby parents who want more sports (or sport to be non compulsory), and total parity (eg training tops, hoodies), on offer that are seemingly heard the loudest (but I'd argue that the investment per student is actually higher for smaller sports, than the traditional sports, as they can't amortise the costs like rugby, and say, basketball do....)
