Super Rugby Oz Reds v Brumbies

Sword of Justice

Dick Tooth (41)
I've just gone and watched every single scrum of this match again (and there were a lot). Aiden Ross was dominant against Van Nek with multiple earned penalty and not one shuffle backwards all day. This is very exciting for the Reds next year to have the two experienced All Black props guiding through De Lutiis and King with Nonggorr priming. Fa'agase also very experienced now but I feel the Reds should prioritise others.

For the Brumbies, I thought Ieli actually did well against De Lutiis with most of the damage occurring on the other side. They seemed quite evenly matched which is a wrap for Ieli. He looks 31 not 21. They could be a long term option for Australia.

After Ross was subbed I think the Brumbies had slight ascendancy in the bench front rows.

Uh huh

I realise this may be interpreted as the impotent whinge that it definitely is, but it bothered me that the ground announcer only bothered to introduce the player names of the home team, and only announced the Reds' substitutions. Didn't even bother at least calling out the player numbers when Brumbies subs went on. I think if you're put in charge of the PA, it's not an unreasonable expectation that you should take five minutes out of your busy schedule to look at the team sheet.

Also, if you're going to sit there in a Reds team jersey and call out the names of the Reds players as they go on and off the field, how about you at least ask them how their names are actually pronounced? I'm a very long way away from being chairman of the Sean Maloney fan club, but I have immense respect for the obvious effort he has made to learn how to pronounce Pasifika and Māori names correctly, and how he keeps working on it and improving every year.

It's about respect, and it's not too much to ask.
