This just a theoretical side or pulled from a Reddit thread?

Sam Windsor... A 38 year old MLR journeyman. Haas would take his back of cash and han it to most these guys thinking they're the hired help. Same with Audsley.

The MLR died so R360 could thrive.... Imagine all those blokes getting pay bumps for playing mid table 1st Grade standard Rugby.

Guys its a bullshit side clearly. There's been no announcements. Apparently some are due 'within the fortnight' but the above is made largely by AI made up mostly of players from the defunct MLR teams plus a couple of random 'big name' leaguies a fringe super rugby guy and a fridge 7s guy.

Its the type of team I wouldn't be surprised seeing

Without Twiggy fronting that comp for the Force to stay alive who knows if they would have been around when re admittance presented. R360 as present offers nothing to the wider environment besides potentially lining a few players pockets and good luck to them if it's there.

yeah - no doubt about his support for the Force actually helped all of Australian Rugby....but...this does sound familiar:

Billionaire mining magnate Andrew Forrest says star players from around the world are banging down the door to ask about his new Global Rapid Rugby competition.

Forrest will launch the competition in either late February or early March, and he’s hoping to attract about 20 of the world’s top 100 rugby players.

Former All Black Dan Carter has already been linked to the new league, while Matt Giteau’s name has also been floated.

The marquee players will be spread across the eight franchises, with no salary cap in place for the league.

Zac Lomax (Parra Eels) just bailed on the NRL to ‘explore opportunities outside the game’.

I get the sinking feeling that a whole host of Wallabies have signed with R360 and it'll be announced after next week's game.

There's no reason why they can't poach our best if they can also poach NRL's best who are paid that much more than the Wallabies to begin with.

Super Rugby seasons aren't as long as the NRL ones and our best have international rugby to aspire to, which they'd lose going to R360. League players get the massive drop in workload and don't lose out on rep opportunities in the same way alongside the pay day.

We may still lose a few but only those off contract for now, and given the timing of r360 I'm not sure there would be much value in announcing yet for those players, unlike in league where the clubs want them off the books early, I assume for cap reasons.

They lose the chance at Origin which is the biggest footy event in the country now and makes you a legend if done well. If they maintain current eligibility rules as well the RL international game is becoming a better product year on year.

Plenty of Wallabies have shown if the money is right they can walk away from it all.

Origin isn't nothing, but it only counts for so many of them for so long, I don't think it has the ongoing draw that test rugby does once they've played a season or two, particularly once they've won it (it's a bit the same with a Grand Final). The fact that our guys aren't winning anything means they're still hungry to try for a lot longer. International league is similar right now, probably with more interest in repping Samoa or Tonga a few times and moving on. That's something they can still do if they go to R360, just in Union instead. I don't think anyone really cares about the Kangaroos (yet) when it comes time to think about contracts.

But overall I think the big reason it's different is because RA is used to being outbid and having to compete somewhat outside of financial terms for their playing talent. In league that has only ever happened in isolated spots and they don't have a whole of game strategy to address a cashed up competitor going directly for their top flight talent. It's also a bit tricky when you've got ~18 clubs running around but only a few guys still get to be the "best" or "biggest name", it leaves a lot more genuine stars with wandering eyes who are open to an opportunity like this.

Disagree myself. I think the real competitors always want it and chase it and play in the pinnacle games. NZ have held every trophy in the past decade but don't seem to drop interest.

There is also the draw of being a sporting celeb that things like Origin can do for these young men. People can't even name Wallabies these days.

Regardless, they are giving up high honours if they go to R360 but the potential money will sway guys. It has to. Some players are being offered money that does put them in secure places for the rest of their life if they aren't dumb. I tend to think we just havent heard of the Rugby players yet as they are playing games and people are trying to play nice.
