Only one student per school can be in a jsdc team and students can only participate once. So the top speakers will either make an appearance in y9 or y10 if they do. It also means zones like western Sydney could have stronger teams than they actually put up given the consolidation of talent and...
Does dropping judges matter though in reps. I know it does for wsdc rankings but isnt reps just points for wins? Also to respond to some other points raised on this page, firstly people need to stop overrating the value that big name coaches provide. I've seen some teams have some amazing...
Topics for tonight's reps debates are:
1 That the government should pay compensation to victims of crimes committed by ex-felons
2 That the government should offer LGBTI+ only schools
3 That we should offer dictators immunity in exchange for their resignation.
Haven't been able to find anyone...
Another year another rumour involving scots senior debaters and poor form. Also I'd still rate the mlc team a chance without their best speaker against scots. imo scots got lucky to finish 2nd this season in their pool.
oh dear another debating meme page, as if there weren't enough already...
Not a great night at Barker for Barker. Both Barker senior teams knocked out. Barker Senior A (aff) lost to PLC Sydney. Barker Senior B (neg) lost to Monte. Topic for seniors for octos 2 was abolishing Pharmaceutical Patents.
I also was told Grammar was aff. I heard that MLC pulled in one of their FED speakers to replace the sick team member in the debate against Redlands. I didn't know that they ironmanned it. If it was ironmanning is that allowed in the rules?
Rubgy fan are you certain they only debated with 2...
Not all of the list was. I didnt really pay attention to the ordering when I was writing it out.
The ordered list and thus what I think the Octo matchups will be are as follows:
A3 PLC Sydney
B4 ? (Tangara/Kambala?)
So for GPS schools in ISDA, probably Grammar is the top pick. I heard some controversy over the Scots v Grammar senior debates decisions but like that particular round provided some interesting debates because of how the topic was worded (or should I say oddly reworded from a melbourne easters...
interesting. Based on my predictions which is on the previous page I am on track to get 14/16 predictions right.
One of the two i didnt get was the 4th team in pool C because it was a bit of a stab in the dark. Judging by those results, it seems to be a lucky dip anyway. The other was Cranbrook...
Had PDC started already?
It is possible to lose a round and win. Though that is relying on the other teams each taking a loss and forcing a tiebreak. Manly did it last year. Lost one of their main rounds and still made it to the grand final.
Or were you referring to last year's pdc season?
The list in the 2016 thread was just callbacks. Im sure a squad list will be up by the weekend.
My ISDA Predictions for Senior A making Octos.
Pool A is probably the most difficult this year. Pool C or D would be the most even. A lot of the GPS schools arent at their strongest this year...
Thread for discussion and thoughts and news of different Sydney/NSW schools competitions.
Primarily dealing with the premier competitions of ISDA, Archdale, GPS, CAS and Premiers Debating challenge as well as their respective representative teams and state team. There are many more competitions...
So some ISDA results seem to be up. Still a bunch of issues with it and missing results.
Based on it and some other results I know:
ISDA Round 1:
These are the results Im missing:
Anyone know those results?
I have seen debates where a coach or teacher will nod very deliberately to signal what a speaker should say or not and what to respond to or not. So bad that the adjudicator has to remind the audience of their conduct. And it's happened more than once. But this is next level sad. You did win...
