McKellar will be gutted.
Surely he thought he was next in line, now that path is closed (most likely). Even if he stays, perhaps coz of cost of sacking him also, he won't stick around for 5 years waiting for another shot at the top gig.
Frost did really well, but I don't think a Rodda/Frost lock combo would be great for example - lacking some engine room grunt. Frost Skelton is one I'd like to see.
If we get stuck at 3 overseas players (quade, kerevi & koroibete) then ok give rodda and frost a go but yeh - hesitant.
If Gleeson is preferred VIII, and is a small guy, and hoops is small, and the locks are small (Hanigan, Holloway and Seu - all who prefer the backrow btw), then they'll need Swinton @ 6
Gamble off the bench and giving hooper rests.
From the current signed (plus mcdermott) lists of each team - this is the best team I can come up with for 2024.
Here's to a strong 2023 in signings! Hope the new deals and the incoming tours gets some staying power for payroll
1. Lambert 2. Porecki 3. HJH (Harry Johnson-Holmes)
4. Rodda 5. Frost
6. T.Hooper 8. Pugh...
Not a bad shout.
I'm think Lolo - formers reds and brumbies. Left Japanese rugby, was schooled in Brisbane. This is an old photo - perhaps training with the squad or mass gaining for a future as a prop lol
I wonder if Bristol didn't want to hold him/had to downgrade his contact. Grass is alot greener in France if he can get full time there, but could be a stop gap before heading to Japan for next season.
I think Aus teams across the board have struggled with positive replacements for big name departures. Just more big names off shore. Reds have done better then most but
