All very true Hawko. but with Eddie Jones there, wouldn't the more senior players have wanted to show a bit extra in front of the Wallabies coach and selector?
Nadolo did look good early. Also impressed with one of the props but don't know his name (not Holz or Tet Faulkner).
Two games LB. He was just as influential in a trial against the Tahs at the end of last year. Took control of the game in the first half then, and only after being replaced for the second half did Jack Bowen then take charge.
EDIT : What impresses me most about his performance is his composure...
Not wanting to hype Jack D up too much, but he controls a game much better than any of the other prospects at 10. His kicking game keeps an opposition under a lot of pressure and his passing game had support players threatening the line on occasions. He did take the ball to the blindside near...
Latu did play good. As I mentioned, all the hookers seemed to play good. I don't think there was a crooked throw or overthrow called all game. The Brumbies did come away from a Tahs lineout with the ball on one occasion and as far as I recall that was off a Latu throw in, but maybe it was just a...
People probably want to know how the various Hookers performed.
All were pretty good and I think there was only one lineout steal by the Brumbies off Latu's throw in the game. Lonergan was the pick of the 2s for his stronger work around the park, but interestingly, the Brumbies showcased...
No cards but a few penalties for marginal high shots. No out and out head highs from either side. I thought the referee was being pedantic on some of his rulings. Certainly seemed to like being in the spotlight, unnecessarily so imo.
No-one stood out but Tua had one incisive run through the middle and made good ground. There was a fair bit of kicking by Debreczini but all were tactically sound and mostly gave the Brumbies territory. Probably the best all round kicking game I've seen from an Aussie player in a long time. All...
Yeah agree Debreczini probably best on ground and more than a long shot to to higher levels this year. I would still like to see what he can do at 15 too.
Brumbies scrum also finished the game strongly without 6 of their Wallabies.
Final score 31 - 26 to Brumbies. Could easily have been a bigger win except for some poor handling near the tryline.
Corey Toole showed a few glimpses of his attacking capabilities and scored a meat pie.
Pretty slow game with not a lot of breaks or scoring opportunities. Overall, Brumbies looking slightly better imo but game being disrupted by referee wanting to be the centre of attention.
Debreczini so far outpointing Donaldson in the 10 spot.
Good squad and team UTR. Shame we are probably still relying on Cooper and Foley in the No 10 spot. Hopefully SRP (Super Rugby Pacific) will throw up at least one of the emerging 10s to make the squad.
Personally, I'd have Frost in the starting team. I am not a fan of Rodda and he'll have to have a big Super Rugby season to...
Must see if I can get to the brewery soon now that I've discovered their beer. Great lifestyle getting to these little, often off the beaten track breweries, better even than doing the rounds of vineyards even though that is also one of life's big pleasures.
I believe Matt Philip is out for the season - reckon I saw it posted on the Rebels site recently. Unfortunate, would otherwise be well in the mix. I think also that Tupou is more likely to not make the recovery needed before Cup time. If Quade's selection is dependent on him playing club rugby...
Don't know about Tua's eligibilty, but saw a report he is interested in playing for the Wallabies at some stage.
Brumbies' players I'll be particularly watching in the trials :
Fred Kaihea (LHP) - a couple of seasons behind Slipper and Sio didn't see much opportunity, but reports say he's...
How can you say that Derp? Clearly, the safest places to be on a rugby field are in the lineout or maul, neither of which show up in League.
Just ban the ruck, scrum and tackle and she'll be apples.
