Hello Joker
Back again for the GPS season.
Not in your tipping competition but for the record my tip for the big clash this week is Scots.
My boy long gone now but have promised a current team parent that I will post a match report.
Rest assured I will be fair and balanced as I always have been...
Well....very much a game of 2 halves at Bellevue Hill.
Scots 29 Joeys 40
Scots a very different side after the break....need to send those oranges for a lab test!
Joeys suddenly looked vulnerable.
Scots deserved winners of the second half 29 to 14.
Since 2013 Scots have won the first XV premiership 5 times, no other school more than twice.
Joeys tied second with Newington on 2 premierships.
I let the results speak for themselves. and yes JOKER fully aware of the Joeys victories when shorts reached below the knee and the old leather ball...
Kings were very much deserved winners today but I think Scots made them look better than they are.
A couple of key injuries left Scots backline under strength and they didn't use possession well.
Too many errors, too much wasted ball.
Kings beat Scots by considerably more than Joeys but this...
Time will tell indeed Black & White.
My prediction of questionable Newington fitness early sesaon is looking fairly sound.
Fortunately for you Black & White the second half of my prediction is improvement as the season progresses and they play catch up on fitness.
On a more pleasing note I...
My sources tell me that Scots have been training very hard and a high quality outfit is taking shape.
Always happy to tackle Newington early in the competition when their pack carries a few extra kilos!
Have a well earned rest Joker.
Thank you for all your amazing input this year.
Joeys boys across all levels and all age groups were a tribute to the school not only from the trophies secured but more importantly from the way they played the game.
Go the Wallabies!
May have been a bit overzealous this week in my one eyed support.
Should be a great game Saturday.
Will be leaving one of these in the oven on low as I depart for Hunters Hill.......in the event of the unthinkable.
Can always freeze it if not required:)
True perhaps but only have to go back a few years to a 50 point beating at Bellevue Hill............Less of a back down that year, more of a fall down!
Oh.... and Joker before you go to the history books, fully aware of the longer term stats from a time when rugby jerseys were heavy cotton...
Tips for the weekend:
In the main game.
Joeys lead by 16 at half time.
Joeys lead by 11 with 10 minutes to go
Joeys lead by 6 with 2 minutes to go
Scots win by 1.......and the crowd on the far side of the pitch go wild as the tears nearside begin to flow!
You heard it here first:)
Wow!
A lot of you tipping Newington today by 10 points or more
When the teams met earlier this season it was 41-5 to Scots.
That would be a 45 plus point turnaround.
Were Newington really that bad early in the season?
I think the Newington faithful are all dreaming.
My prediction Scots by 15...
I agree Rob.
It was painful to watch at times.
So many dropped passes within 5 metres of the Kings line.
Penalty after penalty for stupid mistakes.
Scots will need to do far better next week.
They are a good side but are lucky to be 3 wins from 3.
Newington are highly capable and will be far...
