    Wallabies 2023

While to some extent the arrival of Eddie Jones provides a blank slate for players who have been down the pecking order to jump into the RWC squad or matchday 23, I think Jones will know he has to lean heavily on experience and incumbency. The RWC provides a rare opportunity to prepare a string...

Super Rugby Pre-Season Trial: Force v Reds

They stream amateur rugby union matches every week during rugby season! That was my point. How they can suggest they're looking for a way to do it is bizarre given they already have a way to do it that they use regularly.

Super Rugby Pre-Season Trial: Force v Reds

Given they stream club rugby games live it's bewildering that they aren't streaming this. RugbyWA already has a platform that they use on a regular basis!

    RWC 2023 Qualifying & Miscellany

I'm not sure what you mean. I was answering in terms of enforcing the non-compete clause internationally. It would mean Rennie has breached his obligations under the contract so they can just stop paying him and he has no comeback against that. In terms of the non-compete clause I guess...

    Wallabies 2023

His biggest challenge will be that the Rebels will probably struggle and could be the worst of the Australian teams. Hard to make it as an absolute bolter in a struggling team.

    You stop paying him.

    RWC 2023 Qualifying & Miscellany

If I was Rugby Australia and Rennie wanted to take a job with Fiji and void the roughly $1m that Rugby Australia still owes him I'd absolutely jump at the chance. I couldn't care less about playing them at the RWC. You have to be of the mindset that he doesn't move the needle enough to be concerned about him coaching a...

    Wallabies 2023

The last round of Super Rugby before finals is 3 June. The last round of the Top League before finals is 22 April.

    Wallabies 2023

I wonder whether Cooper can play any club rugby in Brisbane once he's fit? Presumably he won't play a single game in Japan this season and that would only leave 4 tests before the RWC squad is selected. It would be pretty tricky trying to return a player from an Achilles rupture in the Rugby...

    Concussions and Protecting Our Players

I think the idea is that who is actually trying to aim a tackle higher than nipple height? There's not a lot of space between there and a high tackle. I'd say that the overwhelming majority of "ball and all" tackles are trying to make contact around nipple height so lowering the legal tackle...

    Wallabies 2023

Apologies for leading the thread down that path. I have deleted those posts. Let's move on and see if we can keep discussions to at least this decade.

    Concussions and Protecting Our Players

Effectively chest height is where a legal tackle is now. There isn't really anywhere higher than that to aim and for the tackle still to be legal. Aim for the waist and if you go a bit higher because the ball carrier dips more than expected then you impact the chest and it's a penalty only. If...

    Craft beer thread

I love Tumut River Brewing Co. Have been there a couple of times as my Mother-in-Law lives in Batlow. Aside from their excellent beers, their ginger beer is good too. The burgers etc. are pretty good at the brewery as well. They do a You Am I beer who are my favourite ever band which just adds...

    Concussions and Protecting Our Players

I still think we're talking about very few tackles here. The tackle where the player was going to try and smash someone in the chest now needs to be around the midriff. You're essentially trying to tackle at belly button height. I don't see how players making a tackle at that height are...

Super Rugby Pre-Season Trial: Waratahs v Brumbies

The Impact Player is a statistical thing they have at every event. They add up carries, offloads, line-breaks and tackles. Ireland's Terry Kennedy won the World Rugby 7s Player of the Year Award in 2022. Toole was a nominee along with Nick Malouf and Fiji's Kaminieli Rasaku.

    Waratahs 2023

Going out is expensive. If I go out for dinner and drinks I spend plenty and that doesn't include any entertainment. Tickets to pretty much any other sport or entertainment type are also expensive. I agree with the GA ticket option if you're worried about price. It's almost certain you'll be...

    Waratahs 2023

I believe it will on BarTV. Looks like it is pay per view and the cost is $6.95. Not sure if there will be any free option through the Brumbies or Waratahs website.

    Waratahs 2023

$65 is the best ticket category. Members get tickets for just under $60 per game for that category of ticket. You can buy a general admission ticket for $25. I don't think you get a dramatically bigger crowd by making tickets range from $15 - $50 for example. You just lose a bunch of revenue.

    Concussions and Protecting Our Players

I feel like there is a happy medium to be found here. You can't make sports completely safe but you can a fair bit to reduce the prevalence of high risk events. Concussion will always be a feature of any contact sport and a risk to some degree in most non-contact sports for that matter.
