Very happy for Alex to get his chance. His improvement playing QPR over the past couple of seasons has been great to watch and still only young by prop standards.
Story in this weekend’s GC Bulletin has Rico Gear as Colts’ Coaching Coordinator and Colts 1 Coach at Bond this year. Has come from two years of coaching schoolboys in NZ. Interesting what he says about the difference in our junior coaching approach to NZ. Too much structure from us apparently...
Reckon Pat Carrigan will be the next Kangaroo’s captain after Teddy. Would also love to see how he would go playing 6/8 in rugby. Was both the school captain and First XV captain at Terrace in his day there, where he played lock.
The GC Bulletin still writes about rugby, couple of stories in this weekend about the local comp. The Sunshine Coast local papers and regional TV news also do quite a few pieces on local rugby. It’s Brisbane that misses out with the 9/ Stan link one of the few that give rugby some air time...
The chat from a few pages ago about win/loss under different coaches got me interested to see who we have played recently.
Since 2020 the Wallabies have played 34 tests against the following teams:
NZ 9 times
Argentina 6 times
SA 4 times
France 4 times
England 4 times
Wales twice
Scotland...
The catch for RWC 2023 selection is how few Test matches get played between now and then.
Super Rugby form would need to be through the roof for blokes like Wilson. Rennie has given him work ons , picked him to start one Bledisloe, then wiped him from the EOY squad, selecting a rookie to tour...
Seems bizarre . Any halfbacks in the Colts system showing promise at Wests?
It’s a real balancing act keeping the developing talent when you have a Super Rugby Club filling up First Grade. Not sure how I would feel about it I was 19/20 years of age and looking at what the next opportunity (or...
The Wests move has been brought up here before, get the connection with the Rebels , but why would they want three of their contracted halfbacks all at the one club? Surely the Rebels would want them all playing first grade , not warming the pine for one another?
Think with the Wilson conversation, where people who support him can see an issue with selections is that the alternatives are really being selected on performances at anywhere near the same level as what Wilson is being judged by.
To say Gleeson had a good Super Season and then looked good for...
Yeah , Easts hosted Gordon in 2021 for a rare win over the SS champions. Sydney Uni hosted UQ in 2020 just before the initial Covid lockdown.
Guessing that means this year’s game would have been in Sydney had it taken place, so maybe Wests are hosting Sydney Uni early next year?
The two players at UQ with Super Rugby experience that would be most suited to a swap to league would be Wallis and Ripley.
Doesn’t look like Sam has picked a Super Rugby contract for 2023, don’t know what Ripley’s contract is with the Rebels.
Guess if he's moving it would be for a starting spot somewhere, which is somewhat understandable.
He always had McDermott in front of him at UQ, but he rarely played QPR. Then Thomas came across from Souths and he was behind another Reds' player who would be playing a fair chunk of QPR...
