Super Rugby Pre-Season Trial: Waratahs v Brumbies

Harrison, Bell and Perese were on Waratahs social media running yesterday. Also seen HJH (Harry Johnson-Holmes) doing some strength work a while back.

    All-Time Crim 1st XV

This team has rugby experience and evilness. You pick Trump in the front row, but would he hold his side of the scrum up? And if he didn’t, whose fault would it be? And as an aside, are the selectors monitoring the Beale situation for if he’s eligible?

They’ve just to introduce some yoga to the warm ups and they’ll be fine

    Concussions and Protecting Our Players

The stats above agree. I guess scrums were easier to tinker with to make safer. And it’s probable that more head knocks will eventuate from low tackles if the tackle height is lowered. But hopefully the numbers improve with the change. I think the problem with comparing concussions to broken...

    Waratahs 2023

We seem to have plenty of options in the backline if everyone’s fit, seems bringing Beale back wasn’t really that necessary. As others have said, the Tahs should’ve looked at bringing a locking option (with Rugby Australia top up) back from OS.

    Waratahs 2023

I could only imagine he’d be an “in case of emergency, break glass” situation and even then it’d have to be a big emergency.

    Waratahs 2023

Totally agree. Bit shit if we can’t introduce a player from our own comp or 7s. That being said, We also have Marky Mark (Nawaqanitawase), Pietsch and Nadolo as wingers. If we push Marky Mark (Nawaqanitawase) to fb we still have 2 quality winger’s starting. That’s obviously if he goes to fb. On the other hand we could utilize...

    Rugby 7s general chat

Manenti or someone in the program brought him back this year. He was dropped a few years back and has played club rugby since then.

    Concussions and Protecting Our Players

^Agreed. High tackles aren’t the only cause of head knocks. Defenders mistiming a low tackle and getting their head in the wrong place would be as much of a contributing factor, as would reckless clean outs. But it’s a start.

    Concussions and Protecting Our Players

^Agreed. You wonder where the set piece would come into it? Also, would it result in the same as in league, where every team tries to plays to the same formula? To me 15s has drifted in that direction too. Or would some teams play fast and loose and others tight and brutal? Like I say , it’ll be...

    Concussions and Protecting Our Players

It might, and I say might, alter how players carry into contact. If the arms are always free, wouldn’t offloads be an easier way of going forward than a million pick and goes at waist height? if it happens that way, the breakdown and how teams approach it should change. I wonder how defensive...
