They certainly hand them out more these days or is it that the school is more successful? I’m uncertain that it’s a good idea tbh…..and my boy has one.

    NSW AAGPS 2024

I enjoy watching high quality schoolboy rugby and the gps comp is usually close and exciting but there are costs of supporting these players that play nrl after school and schools marketing brochures. Ie, Full fee paying parents, bursaries (I suppose also parents), nrl clubs, the state and...

    NSW AAGPS 2024

….and I wonder how much longer are full fee paying parents going to be happy supporting the 1st grade private school rugby comps….with extra cost of living pressures and greater scrutiny on gov funding of private schools. The vast majority of these players end up playing league or look for...

    NSW AAGPS 2024

Yeah, that probably had a positive impact but come on, we all know it’s about recruiting the best players in a variety of ways. Shore recently had a change in policy, or one that started to work. Also, winning a close game at home round 2 after a loss round 1, isn’t something to get too excited...

Trials are interesting but are only trials. I bet there are many boys not playing or playing out of position…..kings……probably also true for many schools

There’s no way all those year 10 Kings boys will play up. Probably only talen and 1 other but not mentioned above.

Really glad someone is trying to do this, thanks. I would try to keep the points distribution as flat as possible even if it appears to disadvantage the firsts. Remember that a good rugby program values the 13Bs equally with the firsts, and a weak program simply buys a 1sts. A basic wins v...

Great experience for the boys and very special for that individual.

    NSW AAGPS 2022

Joeys, Knox AND Barker all improved through the season. I would argue that Knox improved the most because they started average. ‘Trials are trials’. A game between any of these 3 teams would be interesting now. Bear in mind though, that there was plenty of passion in the J v I and B v K games...

    CAS Rugby 2022

Answered above. It’s sounds like I’m whinging but I want to support it. I understand the challenges for the schools of getting as many teams games as possible…..Field availability especially with all the rain, trying to match competitive teams, busing boarders to all parts of Sydney…..just hope...

the ‘injuries/absences’ list in opens also becomes the ‘who doesn’t want to play’ list when playing schools with few teams.

    CAS Rugby 2022

Like this. I think The Kpi’s for the people organising it should be: 1) close scorelines, and 2) # of games. Teams winning by 40-50 shouldn’t happen. At least 1 week of the CAS comp had the knox As not getting a game and the Cs containing about 45 boys. Some weeks only the As and Bs got...

    CAS Rugby 2022

A lot has changed since the ‘90s in Sydney private school rugby-there are a lot more islander and league players running around. Probably a bigger issue in qld but similiar issue here. I gotta say though that there are also some massive white kids. I watched 2 14 year old schoolboy games last...

    CAS Rugby 2022

It wouldn’t surprise me if GPS want this and it has nothing to do with CAS. I hope the CAS schools are able to find games for everyone which are competitive (and safe) for all players each week in a H&A format.

    CAS Rugby 2022

The CAS needs to do more to support rugby. The depth is concerning. Aloys and Trinity are struggling to get B and C teams. Even the school that wins the 1sts, Barker, the performance of lower grades (if they have them) is weak. The competition is only as strong as the weaker schools and these...
