At the U16 champs a few years ago, there were 3 absolute standouts/superstars
- Sua’alli
- Ned Slack Smith
- Teddy Wilson
Will be interesting if the other two reach the dizzy paygrade of Joseph. Probably wishing they’d gone to league for a while, to get the price up.
On a more positive note. Good to see Holloway getting full games without injury. He playing the TH lock role very well indeed. No Retallick but giving young Dougo a chance to learn the trade.
Newsome is utter dogshit.
Imagine coaching a team to win the comp while knowing your fullback can’t catch the ball, doesn’t want to tackle and has no discernible x-factor whatsoever
I imagine it’ll be like every other year.
They’ll carefully study hours of video and form and statistics..
then pick 60% GPS, 30% CAS, 9% ‘other’, plus a token lad from CHS to make it look like there’s a process.
;)
Without wanting to comment on this specific case, I’d say we all agree that precautionary approach is warranted with young people and head knocks.
‘Second impact syndrome’ is a real thing in youth head injuries. If we end up being over-cautious then it’s probably a good thing
And with all respect to (and not including) individual players, this is precisely the general problem
Players getting picked for incumbency, players finding their way through the pathways based on a good showing at younger ages
Carry this onto its logical conclusion and you have Newsome as...
Say what you like about these schoolboys posting, but it marks a vibrant change from semi-literate, self-serving dribble from middle aged Dads-of-players that often is the fare on this sub-forum.
Let’s have more of it.
