I can understand why the only fixture with 2 Aus teams is the chosen game this week, but it'll be interesting to see whether they chop and change timeslots depending on the fixtures.

Reds v Moana Pasifika Rd2 Friday 21 February Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane 7:35pm

Friday games - especially those with daylight-savings adjusted kickoffs - are generally pretty low draws. Couple that with this not being a 'rivalry' game, and it being the Reds' first game of the season, I think it'll be closer to 13k.

    Western Force 2025

Yeah, let’s go back to the days of mum cooking up a big pot of spag bol the night before a game, and players managing their own injuries. Maybe the forwards can work out the lineout calls 5min before kickoff too? Definitely don’t need to let the backs know what’s going on either - she’ll be...

Yeah very likely a make or break season - worth noting this isn't a new injury though, just extended recovery from his patella tendon blowing up last season.

No Henry for the first few rounds either.

And there-in lies the issue - that is not the objective of the current campaign. Probably time I rule 10 myself for a bit.

I'm disagreeing with Parkes promoting what is essentially a straw man argument because he personally doesn't see the appeal or reason in what they've put together, and suggests a solution for another issue altogether. Glad we're on the same page though.

Advertising's a funny thing - to me it basically says 'if you like physicality, watch rugby'. Through that lens, it feels pretty clearly targeted towards the 'game's gone soft' / 'bring back the biff' leaguies.

Exactly. Because it wouldn't. Parkes has poo-poo'd a marketing strategy designed to bring people back to rugby, and countered it with something that would only improve viewership among diehards - hence why I think it's myopic. There are also only so many genuine stars that would actually take...

His argument is that Aus players playing in NZ and vice-versa will lead to more eyeballs across all the games - which it probably would (although a small number, imo), but it sure as shit won't get any new ones. When our whole challenge is trying to bring fans back to the game, why would we...

    Western Force 2025

Club: An organisation constituted to play matches in a particular sport - e.g., "a football club" Seems a pretty inane hill to die on. Anyway, how about the Force! I noticed KB (Kurtley Beale) on the pitch post-game - is there a timeline on his rehab?

That sentence is the lowest-hanging boomer-flavoured fruit imaginable. Completely on brand for him I guess.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Nah - his take on it is pretty myopic imo (quoted below for those who haven't seen it). His suggestion of promoting the players and 'stories' instead is all well and good, but that does nothing for anyone outside of existing rugby circles. I feel we've been doing that for years, and it hasn't...

Possibly I'm misremembering, but didn't it come out that the Sua'ali'i donor had walked away after McLennan was ousted?

    Super Rugby Pacific 2025

From a 2022 revision: https://resources.world.rugby/worldrugby/document/2022/06/14/2a158fb7-ab69-4136-a4ef-ba4a5646e3a8/2022-TMO-protocol-Approved-by-Council-May-2022.pdf An instance of this occurred in the '23 World Cup England v Samoa, which is maybe what I was thinking of.

Possibly I'm misremembering, but was there not an instance last year where a try was overturned after the conversion had taken place?

He's incredibly easy to listen to. I really like that they've slipped him straight away into a core role commentating alongside Maloney. The two seem to work well together. And it means less monotonic dribble from Goog!

Well, first week’s done and Stan’s seems to have upped their product yet again. Really liking the greater access after the Tahs game inside change rooms and having players mic’d up. The new Atko Knows Inside Line show could be a winner too. And boy am I glad they got Matt Burke! Such a...
