It's not the 80s. No one is making $5m/year sponsorship decisions based on the chairman having their phone number and having gone to the same school. There's too much pressure on costs, particularly in a listed operation like Harvey Norman. They pulled the plug because after three years their...
Crowds the SRP (Super Rugby Pacific) will be able to rival if they continue along the existing trend. Surely a bunch more matches (in which the Au teams get pumped in anything not against another AU team) is the solution.
I don't know yet. Surely the point is that it's a comparatively unexplored option and could yield results if community engagement is achieved with a bit of a push from RA/its broadcaster. the NRL seems to get by based largely on loads of teams in one city and so does the AFL. Meanwhile Super...
A bunch more matches in a comp no one really gives a shit about at this point?
I wouldn't be so sure about an increase in broadcast revenue thanks to 33% more matches. When Fox pulled the pin, it seemed to be generally accepted that Super would cost more to produce than it could generate in...
if there was money for a large number of legit professional clubs, i can actually see X clubs from QPR , X clubs from SS, plus the brumbies, force and rebels. Shelve the tahs and reds and keep those brands for end of season/mid-season state of origin tyle tournament
apologies but what is the proposed model? i've seen herbert's comments about club-centric and i infer from that we won't have newly invented teams like the Western Wahoos or whatever, but is there more info than that?
McLennan had to go on account of the Jones debacle i thought. No evidence has been presented that suggests he is the only person available with the skillset to turn pro rugby around in this country (if this is indeed acheivable by anyone). The states may not have wasted a crisis, but he only has...
I think Eddie has been proven to be full of it at this point.
In his first presser he said "mate there's no long term", which i found refreshing as Im not one to agree that you need 4 years to 'prepare' for a WC and nor should you be devoting that much energy to it. You should probably start...
Havvent we long learned that this shouldn't matter?
There's 3 full years of rugby to play before 2027. In all likelihood, we won't win in 27 even if we focus exclusively on it for four fears. The field is too competitive. Every tournament there is least a couple of really good sides that don't...
I'm shocked that people care so much about the article or the interview. Take care of business on the paddock and no one cares about an article speculating about a job interview. Pro coaches are always taking calls and frankly if yours isn't he's probably shit.
Right? Also, dont you want to have people that other people want to hire? He hasn't done a good job this year but other people wanting to hire your staff is surely better than the alternative
I can't read it but if he did say this, he is living in cuckoo land. Any reality in which we gave the capacity to consider what kind of 'style' we play alongside the goal of winning is long gone. We can't even win anymore. No one else in the test arena devotes any energy to how 'attractive'...
i'll admit that i don't watch a tremendous amount of NH club football and i acknowledge some of the refereeing is a bit wonky but the tests between NH teams are pretty hard charging these days and they run the footy as much, and quote often more capably, than Australia?
Anyone else listen to the GBRA podcast with Matt Burke?
I suppose we shouldn't expect solutions from AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), Gits and Burke (Mitchell was in France and hungover) - though Burke has roles with the tahs so he is actually kinda involved - and granted it was recorded early morning yday after the...
